I loved this film. Really awesome retro vibe and sets plus the perfect tone in terms seriousness/camp

It can never be too long. The movie isn't an endurance, its a pleasure. It's like saying you can't stand happiness lasting more than an hour and a half.

Had anyone gotten their copy yet? I saw a photo in the haul thread that just had it in a regular case. Have they stopped using the digi pack format?

I agree with Cvalda, it's a film you can easily watch with a sister or partner, because it also is a sly poke at gender stereotypes, both male and female.

I posted that picture. The copy I received from Best Buy is in a regular case without a slipcover.

Ugh. If it comes like that, I will likely return it an just pick up the UK version. I like their packaging, and that was worth a few extra bucks. But if they are sending them out in regular blu-ray cases, I have paid way too much.

That is really disappointing packaging for Oscilloscope. Their Rare Exports packaging is a thing of beauty. I too like the UK art better, but then I can't share the disc with friends that aren't region free.

I just got mine in and it is indeed the regular case. I am going to contact Oscilloscope and see if there is a digipak version at all. In the past there have been 2 versions of some releases, the digipak and the standard, so perhaps that is the case here.

On Oscilloscope's site, If you compare the mock-up of the box art to Rare Exports for example, it looks like it should be a slipcovered presentation.

The packaging on this is plain as can be. No slip, not even an insert. Extremely disappointing considering the label and the price and how the picture looks like it has a slip. Got mine from Amazon.

Boo. I may just opt for the UK version. At least that has better artwork. What a shame.

Same thoughts here... got it today from Amazon and the packaging stinks for the price. I too was hoping it was at least similar to the Rare Exports Blu-ray packaging.

Packaging Update:

I emailed Oscilloscope about the possibility of digipak packaging. Here's their reply:

Quote:
You can purchase the O-Scope digipak versions on Blu-Ray directly on our store here! Link to Oscilloscope Store
So the good news is, it looks like digipak packaging is available. The bad news is, you have to pay retail.

The last four Oscilloscope releases have been the same (to my knowledge, but possibly more as I dont own anything from last year)

For $10, I'm perfectly happy with the packaging.

I would have been fine with the packaging if it was only $10. Where did you find it at that price?

Just found this image from someone on Reddit that got it "three weeks early direct from Oscilloscope"...

Nice, but seems a shame not to utilize the Painted artwork of the UK edition.

I spoke to them via Facebook and was told to contact them via email. I did so, and was offered a $10 discount code which would bring the price down to around what I paid at target, though I would have to go through the trouble of returning my copy when I don't have a local target. I emailed back asking if there was any way for me to just get the digipak packaging, that I would be glad to pay the shipping charges. Haven't heard back yet.

I really think they ought to warn customers that there are two versions of their releases with what appears to be a plain one for retailers and the digipak from their site. Their circle of trust would appear to be good for that, but I don't necessarily want all of their releases. So if they aren't willing to do anything for me with the digipak packaging, I will likely just return it and pick up the U.K. release for less.
