You probably won't be able to sleep tonight, after you watch it.

Watched it last night, still holds up and creeps the hell out of me. Just the little details - the sound of the loud knocks on the door, the creepy way Doll Face asks for Tamara, the lighting when Doll Face is just standing out in the distant driveway.
My 17 yo watched it with me and enjoyed it as well.
Also reminded me of what a goddess Liv Tyler has always been.
Anyone ever check out any of Bertino's other film? I'm curious to check them out.

I'd love to have something like this for the cover.

There was a wanted poster they had made after the movie made bank. It was awesome, but I can't find it.

Anyway, I'm pumped that this is getting the SF treatment! Hopefully we get news on the sequel sometime soon. What's Universal waiting for?

Will this feature a new 4K remaster? I don't really see the point otherwise. Shout Factory haven't exactly been brilliant when it comes to bonus material of late. I'd expect a directors commentary at the very least.

It's a digitally finished film and the existing Blu-ray looks bery good despite people having issues with how dark it looks, which is intentional anyway.

The last thing we need is more scans of film-outs considering they all end up looking worse than the DI.

I joked about Drag Me to Hell getting a new film-out scan and SF recently announced that they were giving it a new film transfer, so there's a chance The Strangers will get a film-out scan too.

I can't recommend getting rid of your Universal discs just yet. It's ridiculous that scanning film-outs is even a thing, but I guess that's what hapoens when people want new scans of films finished digitally which already look fine anyway.

Why is this even an issue? The Strangers was shot on 35 mm.

It was finished digitally on a DI. Scanning a film element which is taken from the DI is going to result in a loss of detail and will introduce film-related artifacts as we've seen on SF's and Lionsgate's releases of film-out presentations.

It's pointless, why waste time and money making something look worse by scanning a film-out when there's a readily available DI?

I enjoyed their film out scans of the Dead films, as they look more theatrical and less of that modern digital flat look being the norm.

Cover art and date for Scream Factory's upcoming Blu of Bryan Bertino's THE STRANGERS (2008):

Quote:
**THE STRANGERS Update & Artwork Reveal **

At Comic-Con this year we announced that a 10th anniversary Blu-ray of the home-invasion blockbuster would be coming soon from us and today we have some more exciting information on it to share with you today!

• Official street date is March 6th, 2018--just ahead of the next film Strangers: They Prey at Night, which opens up in theaters on March 9th.

• This is a 2-Disc set that will contain both the theatrical and unrated versions of the film. It will be branded as a “Collector’s Edition” that will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date). U.S. and Canada territories (Region A).

• The newly-commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from the CRP Group (Firestarter, Rabid, Species, Drag Me to Hell). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will be a cool variant from the original theatrical exploration. (See below in the comments for visual)

• Extras and specs are still in progress and will be announced at a later date. However, we can confirm today that we will be doing a brand new film transfers

Pre-order now directly from our website @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6621 to get the product two weeks early from national street date plus you’ll receive a free collectible 18” x 24” rolled poster of the newly-designed key art (while supplies last)

Along with the new artwork post on Faccebook, they announced that this would be the reverse cover.

I will be getting this, just to show my support for this AMAZINGLY creepy and haunting thriller. But the art work leaves me a little blah. I might reverse it for the backside artwork.
