Watched this movie this weekend, nice looking Blu-ray. We had seen the previous two movies in the theater but had missed this one. I think a few extra lines of exposition here and there would have helped to smooth over a couple confusing things in the story, but overall I liked it a lot. Cool action sequences, great art and production design.
I read the books several years ago, and the second and third books made some really strange story decisions and kinda went off the rails, in my opinion. I was glad the filmmakers decided to streamline the story a bit when adapting them and left out a lot of that stuff. I think they crafted a very solid trilogy. Loved the first 2 movies, just finished this one....meh. This thing was far too long, too many stupid character moments. Such a bummer way to end the series.
I also hated that a certain character came back 'to life' and seemed to have a whole new personality. |

As far as adaptations of YA novels go, this trilogy is in a solid place at the top of the field alongside a few others. HOWEVER, I was never a fan of one particular choice the author made in the end concerning a character, and wished it had been reversed for another who I cared nothing for and got another go at an arc. Ugh. But what can you do.
Kudos to the young actors also. Usually there isn't much palpable emotion present, but even with the music manning the puppet strings, the "letter" sequence managed to get me choked up. They're a pretty good way to spend a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, either way. |

It's just thicker because in-store it comes with a child's size bandana. It's a nice design, but definitely meant for a pre-teen.
The box is larger to accomodate for this, as it sits on top of the Blu-ray set (same as everywhere else) on a white cardboard slot. It's pretty flimsy stuff. Not worth it, imo. But I'm a completionist for movies I like, so I got it. |

yes. Better series than Hunger Games imop. The first one is the best as it has a true Lord of the Flies meets Lost vibe but the sequels are still entertaining action flicks with surprisingly strong acting. Especially the third

Yes, they finished it all up. There were only 3 books in the series, but they did have 2 prequels also. Really though, from what I've heard, the 2nd and 3rd movies and books are nothing like each other so they could have had more books and still have finished the films probably.
