Will be looking to pick it up on 4K & 3D. Just waiting to see if we get any international combos or if Best Buy will release a 4K SteelBook.

That HMV SteelBook May end up being my first group buy if a better alternative doesn’t materialize. Almost went that route on Spider-Man Homecoming until shipping costs killed it.

Saw it on Saturday. I keep going back and forth with it. I know I will buy it on 4K when it does come out.

I thought it was a fun movie over all. The action was top notch. And I think it will look great on 4K UHD. Great twist to the movie that I totally didn't see coming.

Dislikes-
-The comedy (or attempt) was soooo bad! It rarely fit into the scene. It was awkward almost.
-Didn't like the teenage cadets. Except the main girl character, she did well. I couldn't get over seeing Karan Brar. For those of you that have young children will recognize him from all those Disney Channel shows. He plays and idiot in them most of the time. So taking him seriously in this role was hard.
-Scott Eastwoods dialog was really bad the first half of the movie. Once he got going he wasn't to bad.
-Not enough Kaiju time!
-You could tell Guillemo Del Toro wasn't envolved much. The heart and soul from the first was not in this one. I really wish he would have directed it.

Over all I would recommend the movie though. If you go into it not expecting much but a fun action movie you should like it.

Oddly, I went into the first film hoping for a film a lot like a live-action anime mecha show but I came away with GDT's vision of what a live-action anime mecha show is. Which is not a bad thing. But every time I hoped it would go crazy, it just stayed on its path. Going into the new film, I thought I'd get warmed up GDT and have to be happy with it. But it really went for a live-action anime mecha show this time. The cast continually joke in the middle of dire circumstances, John Boyega loves himself in the role, the robots batter the s%$t out of each other, there are more Mazinger Z references this time, the rocket punch makes a semi-comeback, the kaiju
[Show spoiler]destroy downtown Tokyo
, there's
[Show spoiler]a cackling villain standing on a building
and in the end, the cast win by believing in the heart of the cards (sorry, Yu-Gi-Oh reference). In short, if you've ever seen a mecha show on Crunchyroll or Netflix, Uprising suits the mood more than the original did.

My cousin said this was surprisingly solid, so I might check this out in theaters. If not, it'll be a UHD blind-buy when it goes on sale.

Saw last night. I fell in love with the first, which was totally unexpected for me. But this one lived up to the original. Not as good, but a worthy successor. It will look fantastic at home!

[Show spoiler]Will there be a sequel?

If it does similar business (it's currently $236m against the original's $411m) overseas, yeah it could happen.

Only one question:
Did they keep the original catchy Pacific Rim theme music that made us fall in love with the first movie?

That theme song IS Pacific Rim...Anything else would be a crime. Not having it in there would be like Star Wars or Indiana Jones without their signature theme scores

Good to see Universal starting to provide 4K bonus features--no wonder a 111-minute film is on a 100 GB disc.

I wonder if the extras will be upscaled, or native 4K? I suppose it might actually be more feasible to have 4K resolution extras than feature films...
