From the review...”Punisher: War Zone was a perhaps faltering attempt at a reboot for a Marvel antihero who doesn't seem to have attained that same popularity as some other Marvel characters (is it time for another reboot?).”
Someone is apparently not aware of the incredible Netflix series. |

What was interesting (or maybe problematic for some) is that we see the origin of the Punisher in Daredevil season 2, but then they kind of pause that whole thing in the actual Punisher series, to tell a story that was essentially about Frank Castle and his past in the military. I liked it for what it was, but I was a bit surprised at the direction they took that first season. |

I just couldn't take it, the whole introduction of him. He was just so un-Punisher - torturing and leaving a criminal behind alive? That is not The Punisher. He isn't cruel, and he kills criminals. I just couldn't get into it, gave up on daredevil, and didn't even bother with the series. War Zone though just nails Punisher, especially the Marvel Knights era.

Bernthal's body language and PTSD tics just pissed me off, accurate or not.
Dolph's still my favourite, even though Stevenson arguably was The Punisher. Jane's my least favourite, even that Dirty Laundry short film didn't convince me much. I still like the 2004 Punisher film from a low budget actioner perspective though. Last edited by Sky_Captain; 09-28-2018 at 12:03 PM. |

Not looking good IMO. Oversaturated colours and contrast robbing off details. Not as bad as 3:10 to Yuma though but disappointing nevertheless.

Can't judge colors because of HDR conversion but the detail levels really don't look different at all in the caps

As some one who enjoyed both, I have to agree. That second season of Daredevil was awesome.

Kinda surprised by how solid the transfer for this turned out.
The contrast can get stupidly hot at times—but I didn’t notice any grain management or compression issues. The HDR is actually pretty damn good and punchy for this. Black levels look terrific, too. |

I watched this a couple days ago and I liked it better than I remembered. Ray Stevenson was solid as The Punisher and he had a good supporting cast with 2 exceptions. I like Dominic West and Doug Hutchison as actors both have done good work but every time they appear in this they take me out of the movie because they are too cartoony. I guess this was what the director or producers wanted but I think they should have been reigned in and been more serious which to me would have made them more frightening as villains. It felt like they walked in off the set of a campy Joel Schmacher superhero movie and decided to stick around.
