I held off buying the first one as I kinda knew a trilogy set would happen eventually, just didn’t think it would be so soon.
Yea I suspected next year and that it would be for the 20th Anniversary Ultimate 4k Collection

Same here, The first was on sale recently also. I want the slip covers so getting the individual releases instead of the box set.

I want all the slip covers (including the Trilogy's), but it's kind of absurd to get the trilogy and the 3 movies separated too. The only thing that turns me off is the Revolutions' cover where they used a photo from Reloaded.

I agree, but my guess is Warner simply didn’t have the 2nd and 3rd films done in time in terms of the video and audio, especially considering they did a full remastering with the DP, etc. If that’s not the case, your guess is as good as mine.

I don't think we'll get a 4K UMC. Even the UMC in blu-ray had the extra material in DVD and all the extras they were able to fit in the blu-rays, were clearly upscaled.
The only thing to be gained from a 4K UMC over this 4K Trilogy is Animatrix; which, if ever released in 4K, perhaps only a digital version would be more likely.

To guage how well the first sold so they can comfortably produce an amount of the sequel and trilogy boxset without making too many copies and having unsold sets sit on store shelves for months.

Seeing as the first film got a remastered Blu-Ray, it would not surprise me if the others did as well. Although considering the reception of how the standard Blu-Ray version came out, maybe that isn't too exciting.

So, no one's mentioned it here yet, so I will. Best Buy has listed steelbooks for each of the individual Matrix 4K UHDs. Don't know if Best Buy has had these up for a while or they just got put up. There is already an entry for this site.

The Matrix

Reloaded

Revolutions

Thanks for posting the links . These went up on the 7th I believe, with a 10/2 release. They are now slated for 10/30. For some reason, I did not think to post the links at the time.

Perfect gif, that got me proper loling

I must however admit that it looks like a superb set but Holy Christ is it expensive. Paying £85 for the Ghost in the Shell twofer was a stretch but I could cover it, but DOUBLE that for a glittery box is...wow.

YES! The Matrix is my favorite trilogy. It was the reason I got a DVD player, b/c I was never going to accept watching this on VHS (gasp). I'm happy to re-pay to upgrade the BluRay set to 4k.

I personally don't care about the Animatrix or any of the other bonus features, they can all be standard def any more. Only the films need to be 4k, for any movie any more, for me.

What is with the two sets of bluray discs for the Japanese set? Bonus feature discs for each film?
