Seems a likely explanation.. if this edition shows up cheap enough I'll probably grab it just for the additional extras, if the transfer is a visible improvement then that's even better. I already blew about $25 on the old 2-disc, in fact the pic on here is of my copy because I couldn't find one anywhere online with half-decent resolution.

I might just wait for reports on what the transfer looks like.

Initially I was all gung-ho for this release, but a “newish” transfer on a BD-25 that does not fill me with much faith for the transfer.

Especially since Umbrella is vague about the master. All they have mentioned is that it is a “HD master never before seen in Australia”.

Both the Starz/Anchor Bay and Shout transfers have a fairly high bit rate (that both sit on a BD-50). If Umbrella utilises the Shout transfer, surely they couldn’t fit 30 Mbps on a BD-25 (or Anchor Bay’s 27.82 Mbps for the matter).

Both those discs have a bunch of extras on them as well though. So the actual movie files are probably under 25GB.

I'm curious about this release. I've been wanting a disc with the Shout transfer but with better encoding. We'll see if this is it. The shoddy encoding on the Shout disc is really noticeable on my 60" Samsung 4K. Wasn't an issue on my old little 40" Sony 1080p.

I doubt Umbrella will offer better encoding but fingers crossed I'm wrong.

No matter how hard I try and look at the pic, I can’t tell if it says 1.77:1 or 1.85:1 (if 1.77:1, I’d assume Umbrella is using the Anchor Bay transfer).

Well, I hope they've had someone check the disc before mass production.

Looks like a port of the Scream Factory release AV wise. Identical feature length compared to the Arrow & AB discs which are 8 secs shorter.

Nice.

Newer transfer with the 5.1 audio. Is it the corrected 5.1 though?

If you're talking about the censored 5.1 audio, this contains the original theatrical audio, just like the first Umbrella release.

Thanks, so just to confirm, this fixes the censored audio on the 5.1 same as the first Umbrella/Arrow release?
