I bought a PS3 at launch and have since sold my DVD collection, except for season sets and trilogy collections such as Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, etc.

I only have about 55-+ Blu-Ray movies but i do continue to buy a few every month at a minimum. Once standalone players drop to under 200 bucks, I will be purchasing one for the bedroom as well.

PS3 owner since Dec 06. I have 13 Games and 46 Movies (another 6 on order).
PS3 is the best equipment for my home and I would recommend it to any person looking for a solid BD player with a gaming bonus.

I am completely shocked to find out that most PS3 owners on Blu-ray.com use it for watching Blu rays. Shocked I tell ya!

I figure even gamers buy movies considering because what else are they going to do until the next big game title is released.

I might only have 11 Blu-ray discs but thats the main reason I paid for my PS3and the reason I only have 11 is because there isnt many I really want as of right now. Dont get me wrong I am a gamer but MOVIES come first and I have bought 11 since November. All it matters is that im on the Blu side and I will buy more with a Blu-ray disc player when a very, very, good player comes out this year.

To me that was one of the main selling factors of the PS3, a built in Blu ray player, when the PS3 was first launched, Blu ray standalone players were close to a grand. I figure, the PS3 is a bargain because it plays games and BD's for $600. A no brainer for me. Lately I find myself watching BD's more than I play PS3 games.

Almost forgot to add my latest acquisition to my dvd spot collection, 3:10 to Yuma. Gotta keep my PS3 well fed.

Edit: Just bought another....Shoot 'em up. Wife is gonna kill me.

Default Caved, bought a PS3 for Blu-Ray

I just picked up a PS3. It is an amazing Blu-Ray player.
Everything looks sharp.
The menus are quick and load times are short.

My only complaint is that it does not have built in IR. That problem was fixed with a PS3/IR/USB receiver from Fry's Electronics for $14. A quick setup in my Harmony 890 and I was good to go.

Contrary to everything people(HD-DVD) say, I bought it as a media(Blu-Ray/Media Server) player first and a gaming system second.

It has a much better feature set when compared to the xBox 360 except for the market place. All I had to do was run HDMI and power to the thing and it just worked. It set its self up, connected to Wi-Fi and I was up and running.

Now, what will I do with my trusty BD-P1000? It has played my 200+ BD titles with out any problems. I kinda feel sad not using it. I have yet to remove it from its home and may leave it there until I need another HDMI input.

i originally bought my ps3 as a Blu-ray player as im not really into gaming. then i purchased twonki media so i can stream all my music off my imac via my surround sound system. (this is great by the way) and only recently ive started playing games on it. (COD4)

what a brilliant system for me (3 for1)

I've got 21 in about 367 days, if budget wasn't as tight, it would at least be double that!
