I do both. I'm going more and more digital but there are times when I want the physical disc.

Mostly streaming these days for movies and newer TV shows, but have a few nice 400 disc binders of shows that will no doubt not see the light on streaming services.

I have a Roku and I have some free movie apps which I do look at. I also have a massive DVD collection which I also enjoy.

I think the people that enjoy both will have an easier transition, and the Hard Core Physical will go down with the Ship!

No disrespect, but if discs were to become extinct (not that it's likely to happen for a very long time yet, even if they were to), then I and other physical users will just continue to enjoy what we already have in our collection. That's one of the benefits of physical - no organisation can remove it and prevent you from watching.

I have a 600+ Blu-Ray collection so for me not to watch them would be silly. I use the digital copies only when I'm away from home. I do use Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and HBO Go to watch movies I don't own and TV shows.

I rent newer releases from Redbox. I hate how the digital rental services jacked up their prices to $5.99 for new releases in HD.

I like the idea of streaming rentals but when it comes to owning a movie I like I will always buy the physical disc for my collection. You can’t beat it. Unfortunately you can’t rely on the internet.

I watch on both but only buy physical media and watch free digital copies. If free digital copies went away I'd only watch physical media.

It's okay to stream rentals or watch Netflix, that would be very convenient. But if you love a movie, you should buy the Blu-ray, in my opinion.

I mean... wouldn't you want to physically own your favorite movies and have a nice collection forever? Limited Editions like SteelBooks are even better, they have great artwork, extras, etc. Physical gives you great memories and you truly own it.

I don't buy movies digitally. Sure it would be convenient, but actually owning a physical copy is better.

I was born in 1987. VHS, game cartridge, DVD, etc, is what I grew up with. I can't imagine buying digital movies like on Vudu, Google Play, etc. You don't actually own these movies. And if Vudu shuts down, guess what, no more movie to stream. Streaming is dependent on your Internet connection working as well, and that sucks.

I know the benefits of physical media, and that's why I stand by it. Streaming is just about convenience and nothing more, it is a disposable type of media. If you watch all movies just once and never again, streaming is perfect. But if you value things like high quality, ownership of a physical product, collecting, etc, physical is perfect.

Also a combo of streaming and physical media is a good thing. For example you see a movie on Netflix/HBO etc that you really love and you go out and get the DVD so you will always have access to it in your collection. You never know when it will pulled off the air and you lose access to it if you rely on streaming only.

I've just come to realize that most of the discs I buy, I just don't really watch all that much. So I've been thinning out my collection and have become much more mindful of what I buy... that generally means no more blind buys, and I will mostly only buy what I'm sure I'll rewatch many times or something that I absolutely, truly want to own. Otherwise, I'm fine with rentals and streaming, as I'm not really the PQ/AQ enthusiast that most members here are.

Between buying physical and digital, I'll definitely go for physical though, unless I can snag a digital copy from a member here for the price of a rental. I can't justify spending full price for a digital copy when it could potentially be pulled at any time.

I gotta disagree. Trust me when I say that storage really becomes an issue. I have tossed out mountains of VHS and audio cassettes. I have an office with shelves full of paperbacks and have boxes and boxes of CDs and DVDs in storage (can't even play the HD-DVDs anymore).

While the majority of my music purchases are still on CD (which I promptly rip as ALAC), these days my preference for movies is definitely iTunes and books are Kindle. Not to mention the instant gratification thing; point, click and poof - I own it.

I was born in 1968, BTW.

You forgot to put quotation marks around "own". All of your digital purchases can be taken away or modified at any time.

Physical media only. Live in a fairly rural area, so downloading and/or streaming digital format is useless!!
