The only red flag that I see is that it's listed as a BD-25, but, then again, it's an 82-minute movie and there's only a trailer listed in the extras.

I used to own the UK disc and it looked lovely overall, despite being a little blue. Taking that same restoration and color-correcting it to match prints sounds great to me. Sign me up.

Most of the Mondo Macabro releases are on BD-25. With decent skills an 80-90 min film even with a few extras (assuming those are aggressively compressed) can comfortably sit on a single-layer disk.

Love Hammer, although nowadays I'm more selective. In my personal list, the first Frankenstein, Dracula and Mummy will do me. Oh, throw in Plague too. And Curse of the Werewolf.

And Twins of Evil.

I love Plague of the Zombies, one of the strongest 2nd tier Hammer films and better than several of the Dracula sequels. Strong lead from Andre Morell and the night-time graveyard sequence was creepy!

There are plenty on the existing foreign releases. The UK one is often pretty cheap. Not an ideal solution having to buy extras separately, but it’s something!

The UK disc is region-locked, I believe. Just for FYI purposes.

Gee, when Kino tweaked the yellow on GOOD BAD AND UGLY, it came out sooo nice!

Here is the problem as I see it

Warner's is dumping this title out
Color correcting baked in badness will not fix the problem to my standard

Movie needs a new transfer and Warner's knows the $$ will not be there in the return end to justify the restoration, so we get this garbage.

Partyslammer is right, looks really bad for CURSE if they treat DRACULA like an unwanted guest.

Here's the problem as I see it...

People should keep their uninformed opinions to themselves until they've actually had a chance to see the thing they are complaining about...

^Once people have decided to be unhappy about something, even the director being raised in a seance to assure them it's what he wanted the movie to look is not going to satisfy them.

What does Kino tweaking a United Artists title originally color timed by Ritrovita have to do with Warner tweaking a Hammer production color timed by BFI?

Well I don't think for a second that Warner is going to try to regrade the cyan/blue BFI effort (but I could be wrong), that way lies a muddy desaturated mess. I'd take the advice from bb8977, & see what it looks like before we all start wailing..all hope is gone!

If it doesn't make the grade, then I just won't buy it & move on. I love the film, but I have lots of films I love on Blu-ray.

There's absolutely zero cause for concern, this thread is completely absurd.

We're getting an older (yet still "modern") scan with a grade that reflects the original intended look. But hey, if you want to pretend Warner ripped the image off the international Blu-ray and are tweaking that for their Blu-ray then go ahead, just don't spam forums with 100% misinformation.

Ignorance is bliss but apparently not when it comes to home video. The more ignorant you are, the more you're bothered by films looking the way they should (rather than incorrect older masters where there was no attention to accuracy).

People scared because it's Warner doing the color. Hello, MPI are one of the only companies that consistently grade the image alongside a reference print and their work has been consistently accurate for at least five years now. People just get pissed off when the reference prints contain color that doesn't look like generic DVD master crap, typical pseudo-"purist" bullshit.

Same deal with The Hidden. OMG WAC has a blanket green tint! Oh wait, it was confirmed by the cinematographer that the other colors were dialled out photochemically hence accentuating the green? Funny how the same suspects are seemingly always proven wrong yet still fail to learn from their actions and have no problem still slandering releases that they haven't even seen a frame from.

Calm down, JohnCarpenterFan. You sound ready to burst an artery. Let's not overstate the case. Let's wait and see.

I suspect the Warner Archive grading will probably be alright, I just wish it were a competitive scan.

I have the UK disc so I'm glad that scan will be available on the WAC disc as well for those who aren't region free or refuse to be. It's nothing to sneeze at. Though we're extremely light on extras we'll have two different color timed choices to choose from.

According to Warner Archive's site, the release date will be December 18th.

I'm wondering if it will have that little snippet of extra footage that Anolis found in the last scene. I've heard nothing but good things about that. I'm guessing that they will not, so there will still be a reason for super-fans to get that release as a supplement even if this one ends up looking much better.

Have you seen it?

When bad color is baked in, it stays.

As this has the Japanese footage integrated,
it's the same old scan re worked in 2012,
now re worked in 2018.

And they ran an automated dirt removal program.

I fail to see what all the backslapping is about.
People complain 'where is it' for years, and when Warner's dumps it,
they cheer like robots.

You shall all see soon enough.

Have I seen it? What is "it"? The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, or Horror of Dracula?

Maybe if you were to take a deep breath and quell your zeal to pound away at your keyboard in an indignant rage over a product that has barely been announced, you'll notice that I was pointing out the irrelevancy of comparing Kino's work on GBU to this release... one company's work on one title has no bearing on an entirely unrelated company's work on a completely different project.
