You mean 30th anniversary, don't you? This year marks 30 years since release.

1st film = 35 years old

2nd film = 30 years old

Oh, yeah. There are two films. I only really care about the 2nd one myself so I wasn't thinking. D'oh!

I know last year they did live concert screenings of the first one. I would LOVE to check that out. Elmer Bernstein's film score is iconic to me. Maybe not to everyone, but when I hear that score it gives me chills and takes me right into the world of the film, even if I'm listening to it and not actually watching the movie.

I love Ghostbusters. Like more than almost anything. I use the word almost cause I do have a wife and a child, but semantics right?

Oh man I love these films. Looks like this will be copy number 7 and 6 of these two films in my collection! I keep upgrading but I can never bring myself to get rid of the previous copies.

Regarding the OG audio, there's a chance that the hidden 5.1 legacy DD tracks on the GB UHDs are the previous 5.1 mixes anyway. I know that's not the same thing as having the OG 2.0 audio but it'll do me.

Wondering if this release will port over the old features from previous releases or would I need to hang on to them?

The EW article referring to the Detmerring scenes as "wisely deleted" should be a hint...

I read that but I don't care, I'll be the judge of that myself.

I definitely prefer the first movie but the second movie is an underrated gem.

The courtroom scene.

'Short, but pointless...'

Haha! Classic

The Fort Detmerring scene has felt like some long lost legend for decades. Reading excerpts of its script pages and seeing photos already sort of let you know the pace would have been destroyed if it were left in. However, I can't wait to finally see this scene.

I used to watch the original 10 deleted scenes from the "Scene Cemetery" nonstop when the first DVD came out. I just couldn't believe that there was more footage from what might be the greatest movie of all time, and now we are getting MORE?!?! Good golly miss molly...I can barely contain my excitement.

I just slimed my pants.

I really am as happy as anyone that we're finally seeing it but I can't help but feel that, as legendary as that stuff is, it's not going to be some earth-shattering revelatory footage that puts the film in a whole new light, you know?

Oh no I totally agree with you. I’m prepared to be a bit disappointed by the scene haha but I just can’t believe we can finally lay our eyes upon it! Nothing will ever change my view of the original film. No need to add footage to it...it’s perfect as is, but I am 100% all for seeing as much shot footage as possible no matter how mundane it might be.

Even if GB3 sucks, parts 1 and 2 will still be there to lift me up when I need it.

To steal a line from a recent Sky_Captain post, Peter MacNicol shoplifts GBII right out from under the noses of the rest of them.

"Slides are awailable in the gift shop, eh? AAAGHGH"

(That's even making me lol as I type )

Wow, I don't already own these. I remember that the covers put me off, so I planned to order the UK editions, and I guess I never did!

I think these two and The Bridge on the River Kwai are the only "important" (read: decent catalogue) Sony UHD Blu-rays I don't own yet.

Happy days!

Tis true. I even prefer M:I-2 over all the other Mission Impossible movies. I'm weird that way.

Happy with the current uk UHDs and their art work. But am very interested in these new found scenes.
Questions if anyone knows. Sorry if already asked etc.

Are these exclusive to the new uhd set.
Are these scenes standard or 4k
Will they appear on a normal bd release.

Just cause if they’re standard def and going to appear on a GB1 release that’ll cost a fraction, I’d pick that up and add it to my current set.
