They've also done some not-so good/mediocre UHD BD releases.

The time frame of a blu-ray release isnt solely reponsible for its quality. Some of my older blu-rays are still killer. Im sure you have some too which are great, yet older. Each release is to be taken and assessed on its own. And Im always concerned that a UHD release will be good or not. Some are crap. Period.

Maybe - like I said, there are shoddy UHDs thatsimply suck or are trivial "upgrades" to their blu-ray counterparts. Zero reason to buy those, IMO.

I hope Disney does handle it right.

It will be superior for sure in the video department but on the audio side of things, I am not too optimistic. Oh, it will be even more superior if another Studio does the HDR grading.

This whole narrative that there’s sizeable amount of UHDs that are “crap” or “trivial upgrades” is just nonsense, IMO. The number is, like, less than 10.

So with the three Iron Man movies and other two Thor movies releasing on 4K, we’ll only have a few left to complete the MCU; the first Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange. How exciting!

The DNR on Winter Soldier has me pretty concerned about Iron Man 1 and 2. The third one should be a safe day one purchase though.

If they DNR'd a digitally-shot movie like Winter Soldier, then why would #3 be any safer than the first two?

I think they'll turn out fine regardless, but I haven't seen Winter Soldier/Civil War on UHD yet to see how bad the issue is.

I thought de-noising was a bit aggressive on both CA 1 and 2. Yet to watch CA3.

I've read about de-noising on Cap 1 but it wasn't apparent to my eyes. If it's at a similar level on Winter and Civil, I'll probably be fine with how they turned out.

De-nosing seems to at its worst on WS. Civil War seemed alright but yeah I'm worried the Iron Man films now.

Not releasing Ant-Man alongside Ant-Man and the Wasp last year was such a missed opportunity.

Well, that’s subjective as far as there being only 10 or less. What if’s it’s 14? Uh oh!

Look, some are trivial upgrades as far as some people are concerned and that’s all that matters. Some people are day 1, no questions asked rebuy every catalog title in UHD. That’s fine. It’s your cash. Some are more selective. Like me and a lot of other people. I enjoy my favorite movies because of the movie itself and the ride I take with my favorite characters, not because it has more pixels or the NITS count or the flavor of the day audio codec. And YES, I appreciate the better quality and I’ve bought quite a few UHDs. I just hope the ones I want to buy are worth it. No foul here.

Plenty of Blu-ray’s are still excellent presentations. This ain’t like VHS we’re upgrading from...right?

I remember IM3 being an extremely clean and digital looking movie, so I'm less worried about it. I guess I might have said the same about Winter Soldier though, so maybe I should take a look at IM3 again before saying such things.

In any case the real film and relatively grainy look of 1 and 2 are more concerning either way.

The more important question is if we are getting cool steelbooks for these like we did for Cap. Because otherwise, well I can live without the IM movies because I have so far.
