As for the rest, don’t take the plot of the series too literally, or at least think about it in more than one way (not merely as plot.)
Lynch and Frost crapped on a lot of what came before in S3.

I was in a Barnes and Noble today and there was a display that said something like "Gather The Family Around For TV Night" and they had the DVD and BD set of Twin Peaks season three. There might be some shocked parents out there.

She was, but if Lynch wasn't fond of the character why did he bring her back for FWWM? Also, Lynch himself chose Heather Graham for the role after directing her in a TV commercial.
Windom Earle was also supposed to be a part of FWWM according to Robert Engels. They couldn't fit him in the film because of time restraints but he was supposed to appear in the two films that would follow FWWM if it hadn't bombed at the box office.
Maybe he changed his mind over time but I don't think he was so against the characters at the time.

Can’t find a source for that Earle part so I’m not sure that’s true. And Engels has given a lot of misinformation on FWWM and a potential third season before.

And literally no one not involved in the production knows what Lynch liked or didn’t like about S2. It’s all speculation. Frost said they just couldn’t find anything for certain characters to do in The Return. That’s why Piper Laurie wasn’t in it despite wanting to come back. Many actors have said Lynch would have had anyone back. Deadline reported that even Lara Flynn Boyle was asked to return.

He talked about it in many interviews. Earle was supposed to be at the Palm Deluxe (the Buenos Aires hotel) doing business with Judy (who at the time was going to be Josie's twin sister) and Phillip Jeffries was there to spy on them.
I don't think they ever developed that idea as the films that would follow FWWM were immediately scrapped after the film bombed, but according to Engels, that was the whole idea behind the Palm Deluxe plot.

Again, if you could find a source for the Earle stuff let me know. I’m aware of what Engels has said about Judy, Josie and all that other stuff. But, he has given statements that contradict each other and with the way the Lynch works, I can’t see him just spilling all the details for later films like that. Maybe just potential threads to follow, but his ideas come to him during writing and filming and often change. I don’t think he really had concrete plans for anything going forward.

Piper was also asked back (last minute for a very small part) and declined.

Not true at all:

https://ew.com/article/2016/05/03/pi...peaks-revival/

Quote:
Laurie, who played Catherine Martell on the original series, tells EW she hasn’t read the list of new cast members set to invade Twin Peaks in 2017, but she knows for sure she isn’t on it. “I made it very clear to David and the team that I would be delighted to come back. I had a fantastic time on the original and won lots of awards. I’m surprised and I have no idea why I haven’t been called back,” the three-time Oscar-nominee says, noting that she only found out the revival was happening as news was released to the public. “I did send a note to David that I would be delighted to return, but I think most of the material that I was in on the original didn’t really involve the darker aspects of the show, and I can guess maybe that’s where David and Mark Frost are going, but I really don’t know. My character was more on the silly, comic, fun side.”

Across Twin Peaks‘ 30 episodes, Laurie also shared ample screen time with Joan Chen, who played Catherine’s sister-in-law Josie. Though Chen’s character died near the end of the series’ second season, a source close to the actress tells EW Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost tried to find a way to bring the 55-year-old back for the 2017 limited series. “She was not asked to return. Lynch couldn’t find something for her or Piper Laurie that would make sense,” the source says. “They had conversations, but couldn’t find a way for her to return… She’s not upset about it. If she was involved, she would comment on it.”

Here's an article titled:

David Lynch in Hell: Finding Resolution in Twin Peaks: The Return
July 30, 2019

https://brightlightsfilm.com/david-l...9#.XUOMJPJKiUl

I have not read it because I have not gotten that far in the Twin Peaks saga, so I can't comment about the article, but I thought some of you might enjoy it.

Of course. I remember Engels talked about it during an interview for one of the Wrapped in Plastic editions back in the 90's. He did mention it in other interviews but I can't remember specifically which ones.
Yes, I know how Lynch usually works, but he and Engels were writing a screenplay together so they were obviously discussing a lot of ideas and I believe that's all what the whole Earle/Judy/Jeffries thing was.

Wow. Look- the return was a huge production. And there are tons of things that happened behind the scenes that the public will never know. Some of those things are known by people. But you can certainly dismiss it if you want.

What kind of response is this? If I told you that Prince William made a cameo in a deleted scene without a source you would just accept it as fact? Not sure if you’re trolling or actually expect anyone to believe you.

One thing about The Return that I am sure of is that when I have a dream about Monica Bellucci it is never about her giving me information.

It would have been interesting if it were true. I wasn’t trying to start an argument, just don’t want others confused by unsourced info.

You've offered nothing. Except for a bias against Season 3.

Here's an idea: If you have information, BACK IT UP in some way. We are on the internet. Anyone can say anything.
