This is the only Disney SW flick I love so far. I'll double dip for the 4K.

Probably my favorite Disney-era Star Wars film so far. I won't deny that the first two acts have some flaws, but the third more than makes up for it.

The Force Awakens would stand behind it as my second favorite. The Starkiller Base lightsaber duel remains one of my favorite Star Wars sequences, period.

Now that I've seen Episode IX, I'm planning on rewatching all of the Disney-era movies over the course of the next few weeks.

Great news. I have the 3D release but will pick this up as its my favourite of all the releases since Return of The Jedi. I love almost everything about it, although i am still not sold on the title music.

Back before this came out, I remember telling a few friends that my ideal SW movie would be something like Black Hawk Down in space. Forget wizard magic and prophecies and laser swords for a while, and really show a boots-on-the-ground, behind-enemy-lines conflict. This got as close as we're probably going to get for me and I dig it.

I hope this also means we get Edwards' Godzilla '14 on UHD soon. I think it's actually very similar to RO, in that the characters aren't that interesting and the first half is a little slipshod, but delivers the best action of the franchise in the finale while also having the best cinematography in said franchise.

You took the words out of my mouth...and I wonder if the producer(s) have a hand in why this is so. After all, the rumors are that Tony Gilroy did more than just re-writes...but it's not the first time someone else stepped in for some "clean-up" directing. Besides some of the best commentary tracks are when the writers+directors do it together.

I think Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Solo are all solid films, and you factor The Mandalorian in, and I think Disney/Lucasfilm is doing a'ight with Star Wars. But man, do I wish they put more thought and time into the sequel "Skywalker" trilogy first. They should have really focused 100% on knocking those out of the park before doing any other movies/tv shows. Immediately flooding the gates was such a huge impetuous mistake on their part.
I wouldn't say Force Awakens is great but it was a decent, jolly start IMO. Then (again IMO) Last Jedi was flawed, and RoS tried to overcompensate and ended up being a clusterf**k.

I found Rogue One kinda boring and fan-servicey but considering with what the trilogy ended up being, give me more Rogue One.

I've only seen it twice so I look forward to seeing it on UHD with a different perspective now that the trilogy has wrapped.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly, although the derivative nature of TFA did lessen it’s enjoyment quite a bit for me, but yeah, it was still “fun”. Solo was also fun, but I really, really LOVE Rogue One, it kind of blew my mind by the end. Stunning final act, and I’m seemingly one of the few that doesn’t think that the first 2/3rds or so, are just simply ok. I really, really dig the whole film.

Maybe it’s too “generic war movie” for me. The action is great, of course, but I want something more than that from a Star Wars movie.

I’ll still get this of course, though
Because this film was more Star Wars and original than any other live action movie that came out this decade.

Thoughts on whether or not they'll include the blu-ray bonus disc with this release? The blu-ray re-issue of Rogue One dropped it, but the upcoming Saga UHD set appears to be coming with a bonus disc per film.

If there's one thing I've learned with Star Wars, whether it's been Fox or Disney, always keep your bonus discs.

Rogue One has really grown on me although I find it still missing something. However, as others have said, it's by far the best Disney SW movie and it's too bad Ep 7-9 (aka The Space Clown Shows) didn't go with more of this kind of intelligent, better scripted, atmospheric approach. I will pick this up, but damn the Blu-ray is excellent.

I think that some people struggle with the lack of lightsabers and Skywalkers. Most of us that grew up playing the video games love this story though. It's exactly what Star Wars is all about. LOVED Saw Gerrera, Baze Malbus, and Chirrut Imwe.

Would love to see what the original cut of this looked like someday out of curiosity, but I know it'll never happen.

Hoping that we get a Disney+ romcom miniseries with Forrest Whitaker and Bor Gullet, at least!

See like this is what people always say and it baffles me. Rogue One is by far the least “Star Wars” Star Wars movie.

Why does it feel that way to you? I agree with the OP, this feels the most Star Wars-y of the Disney films to me as well.
