I really hope they've banked some material with Tom for future releases, he's a national treasure & the highlight of these sets for me. Season 20 can wait! Let's have Season 17 next!

As they're going to do the early seasons as well hopefully they've arranged new interviews with Carole Ann Ford and William Russell with Matthew Sweet.

This has been raised a few times on the GB forum but thankfully Chris Chapman has said he was in fine form during the S14 stuff. Here's hoping he has many years ahead of him yet!

Agreed. The recent deaths of Donald Tosh & Terrance Dicks really highlights that releasing these earlier seasons should be a priority. Or at least banking some appropriate material. Philip Hinchcliffe is now the sole surviving producer of the classic series & Eric Saward & Andrew Cartmel the only surviving script editors. William Russell is in his 90's now, get this man an interview!

As much as I would love an hour sit down interview will William Russell, the guy is 96. I hear him on the Fantom commentary CD tracks and feel really uncomfortable, it’s time to let him go from the anecdote obsessed fans.

It's nice to see Season 14 getting a release but wonder maybe they should have left it till last since it's one of the strongest Tom Baker seasons. Season 15 would have made a better candidate.

But the attitudes towards the Chinese in the story are Victorian attitudes, and those attitudes are (gently) mocked by the Doctor. It's not racist. That's how I see it anyway.
I tend to think the whole racism label was because of the young millennial people who work for Doctor Who Magazine. Just ignore them.

Now I haven't really watched LTN but from what I understand aren't we supposed to sympathise with the neighbour over Alf Garnett's incompetence and ignorance? Wouldn't that then mean the show isn't racist but about racism?

I'm glad these same people aren't having a go at the nunchucks scene.

See the title of that episode made me think it was going to be an episode about what happened when Clara looked up Missy's dress. Was naturally disappointed.

Does that mean Time Flight had to be held back as well since I think those two stories were released together?

Your forgetting his most important role: Eastenders.

Bidmead's a surviving script editor too, but his season's already been done. I agree that interview material should be banked for the earlier seasons but i still think the 60s stuff should be left to last to be released - to give more chance for missing episodes to show up (he said optimistically). Or at least it would give more time for more animations to be done and included in the sets.

I agree on this. I'd like the sets to be as close to complete as possible. I appreciate that the animations take longer to do and that they release them separately as well (which I do put my money down for alongside these sets) but it would be nice to have them in the boxes regardless.

Are there any recommendations for which retailer is the best to order these from? I live in the US and up until now, have been ordering from one particular place located in the UK, but was told by them that they are closing shop at the end of March. My copies always arrived in safe, pristine condition from them, so rather saddened that they will no longer be around (plus their service was impeccable). Amazon UK is hit or miss (packaging wise). Any recommendations would greatly be appreciated.

I'm curious to know who you have been buying from that is closing at the end of March.

Never had packaging problems with Base.com, they ship to the USA so maybe try them.

I have ordered all mine from Amazon UK. They (so far) always arrive in a box with some paper in it to keep it from scooting around.

He was involved with Frontios so he could turn up again for the Season 21 boxset.

"The Talons Of Weng Chiang" + Q&A with Louise Jameson screening at BFI Southbank on Saturday 14 March at 12 noon. Tickets on sale 11 Feb.

"The storyline includes elements that may offend the sensibilities of a modern audience, something we’ll discuss at today’s event."

They should add the same warning to certain episodes of New Who Series 8 thru 12 or indeed much of the BBC's current output...

Not looking to start a debate, just posting an observation.
