Waiting to hear if this is super buggy but I think this will be a September purchase for me.

The PC version is supposed to have its fair share of bugs, so there is currently concern with the PS5 version, because Game Science did not give out review codes for the PS5 version to ANYONE. Only codes for the PC version. Some people are a little worried that might mean the PS5 is in much worse shape than the PC version. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

Sounds like this COULD end up being like what we went through with Cyberpunk 2077

Which also means that after some patches this could end up being some next level stuff

Hopefully, if it is really bugged, it’s not on Cyberpunk levels. CDPR could survive it. A smaller dev and publisher like Game Science might not be able to, if everyone asks for refunds or waits for multiple patches before buying.

Ahhh true. True.

I was gonna hold out for a potential physical version, but, now I'll hold out for potential bugs to be fixed. Either way, I guess I'm holding out, lol.

As long as it's bug free and fun, I'll eventually download the digital if that's all there is. I guess that's the way the future is going, anyway: digital.

I see less and less physical versions of games
It's kinda sad in a way

Uh uh. No way this ends up like Cyberpunk 2077 levels of crapshow. It will have performance issues patched up over the next few months post launch but nothing that horrendous like we saw again imo.

I think the studios all know that after that debacle there's a huge backlash and the necessity to avoid at all costs.

Again, that's why I'm waiting for more PS5 reviews to decide whether to pull the trigger day one. If not, maybe I should prepare myself with Lies of P for the first time.

Also saw Screenrant's review and found out that they are one of the worst sites out there. They should stick to generic, bad movie lists.

No they cost the same, nearly always, I think they meant it was cheaper for publishers as they don’t have to produce and ship a physical copy so they profit a bit more on digital sales.

Why aren’t digital downloads $10 or so cheaper? We’ve established that it’s more expensive to replicate (manufacture/print) physical disc versions and their packaging etc So if most launch physical versions are $69, shouldn’t all launch digital versions be $59 to incentivize people to go digital?

Thanks. Yes, Cyberpunk 2077 for the PS4 December 2020 release was a complete disaster, but got great reviews on PC.

For those with a PS4, if you really want to see the downgrade they gave the game, uninstall it on PS4, then from the disc only, install that onto PS4 and witness a disaster in graphics and gameplay bugs. The worst downgrade I've ever seen on modern consoles.

But yes, strange why they wouldn't want any review codes for the PS5 version. Sounds like a work in progress situation, despite being in the works for 5 years+.
-------------
Surprised this game is finally happening though. At least that's some progress compared to a game like Little Devil Inside, that never materialized despite getting funded by gamers for PC.

I actually forgot this was playable tonight, I've been so busy and occupied with other things.

I just got around to downloading 10min before gameplay. I just hope it isn't as buggy as everyone thinks it will be.

Looking good in quality mode, the video is captured at 1080p/60.

Played about this far on Steam, it's fun but not enough time to make any determination. I won't pick it up again until the weekend (unless it runs on Steam Deck!).

I may have to get this sooner rather than later because I’m hearing it plays like Stellar Blade and God of War, not a Souls-like

It may not be soulslike, but it sure feels like one. It’s pretty tough and bosses even have 2nd phases. I’m just having a blast!

#1 reason is to make more profit. The rest of the reasons don't matter as much but i'll give it a whirl. Usually they don't want to step too much on the toes of disc based sellers complaining that they aren't able to sell as much because the digital pricing undercuts disc.

The other primary reason digital stays the same RRP as disc is they artificially can keep it much higher for longer than the typical price drops disc releases had over time. A 3 months or so post release window would see a reduction on say a £70 game to maybe £40-45 new. Sometimes even less in Ubisoft game cases.

It's been nearly 10 years since digital games sales surpassed physical, and the gap has only grown since 2017. When you see an MSRP for a game, what you're seeing is the digital MSRP since that is the primary SKU. They don't need to incentivize people to go digital since they already are.

The only physical disc titles that don’t drop too much in price are The Last of Us Part 1 and 2. They remained at $69 for a looooong time. Even used was $65.

Those two games hold their value

I can't speak for the other countries but here in the UK i can usually find a price drop on physical many times sooner before any digital price reduction or sales occur and the amount it drops tends to be more tied to the level of popularity and Sony titles usually hold more of their price.

Yeah, new release physical games can be anywhere from £5-10 off at launch on Amazon or similar versus their PSN equivalent. Although increasingly, PS Plus members have discounts as well.

Are you playing on PC or PS5? If you're on PS5, how does it perform?
