I didn’t see this in a theater so I can’t compare but I totally get the complaints of muffled dialogue.
Thanks for the info, I seen the comparison above to Lynch's films and I often have the different issue with Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway, the audio is often inaudible and I have to raise it to max volume.

I'll get the disc and watch it, but if it's a similiar audio like TDKR or Dunkirk it's good for me.

I picked this up today at Best Buy for $15 and watched it tonight.

PQ & SQ were very strong for regular BD. Nice disc art & slipcover too.

Like alot of Nolan's recent work, it's easy to admire but hard to love.

Movie is very well done technically, but is mostly cold due to constant misdirection.

It's hard to feel too invested in a movie which seems to constantly re-interpret itself.

The best way to watch something like this is to not expect anything to initially make sense.

That’s why they made sure that the trailer included the line, “Don’t try to understand it. Just feel it.” (Paraphrased, whatever.) Managing expectations!

They might as well have said "It's just a gimmick. Tell yourself it's profound. And have fun."
[Show spoiler]In the trailer for all Nolan films, that is.

Yeah, it's stupid that a movie doesn't care if it makes sense.

Just finally watched this and it was a great film but just like a lot of Nolan's films the audio was obnoxiously to loud. So glad i watched this from home and not at the theatre because if i didn't have the subtitles on i would of been completely lost. Barely could hear any of the dialogue in the entire film which was fine for Dunkirk but the dialogue is important for this one to know what is going on.

Always use subtitles the first time you watch a film at home. In theaters the center channel is cranked so much that you can usually hear most everything just fine. However, with home mixes dialogue is usually lower in my experience. I keep my center channel turned up by about 2 dB and run subtitles at least the first time I watch a film at home.

Rotten Tomatoes describes this movie as:

Quote:
A secret agent embarks on a dangerous, time-bending mission to prevent the start of World War III.
But...

[Show spoiler]If the world had actually ended, there'd be no World War III as they stated it.

This was a bit of a confusing time travel movie and regardless I'm not interested in watching it again anytime soon.

The absolute worst part for me of the whole movie was the audio/voices, I had to use subtitles because most of the time I couldn't understand what they were saying.

Here's an example:

What Sator said: Seal me this side.
What I understood: See you later.

It wasn't just me who had this problem, others on IMDb mentioned it, too. I would have hated to watch it at the theater and not comprehend a word.

I finally watched it too, on Super Bowl Sunday cuz I'm not a sports guy. I loved Inception, but this was no Inception. I generally kept up, but by the end, I came away thinking Nolan is getting too self-indulgent crafting these puzzle-heavy films. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. It was ok.

It was also my first time seeing a Nolan film for my first time but at home, so the sound issues mentioned in previous posts were new to me; thanks for the suggestion to turn on captions. I almost did that this time, but just stuck with it.

Tenet is an American made movie (not a foreign film). If Christopher Nolan would've mix and adjust the audio in this movie the way it should have been ( like everybody else) nobody wouldn't need to enable the subtitles. This movie had so many issues that it's ridiculous. Tenet is one of the worse movies made in 2020. It took him how many years to make this mess of a movie!
