As usual. Those are the ones mainstream audiences pay to see. So can't blame the studios.

Yep. Why I see all movies (big and Little) to equal it out.

Jungle Cruise apparently hit an iceberg and sank.

There in lies the joke...such a failure that it encountered an iceberg in the Amazon. I thought the sarcasm was obvious.

I said 35 million or over. Close anyway for the US. It just said in general and didn't specify where.

I saw Green Knight but wish I saw Jungle Cruise that day for a more exciting movie. Green Knight is an acquired taste for those with tremendous patience. I won't bother with Jungle Cruise now though either. Only way was for the 3D and that won't be available probably by next week.

I think the general sense is it opened okay, all things considered. Black Widow and F9 didn’t have perfect conditions either, but the pandemic box office challenges have gotten harder since then (look at polls, dramatic return on pandemic anxiety and more believing disruptions will now continue into 2022 than just a month ago).

Now something like Snake Eyes we can easily say just bombed, but we are probably going to need to adjust expectations for a while based on what is going on in the country and world.

For all the criticism that gets hurled his way over the years (usually in the online fraternity), Shyamalan almost always performs where it counts. There are clearly enough someones somewhere around that like what he does to keep the wheels turning.

He'll get to continue doing his highly singular and idiosyncratic thing for a while yet.

Agreed, yet what kind of person would want certain movies to end because they do not like them?

Not likely anyone would trust him with a $150m production, either

Universal recently forked out $400 Million for a new Exorcist trilogy. A franchise that has not been successful since the original film in 1973. Never question the entertainment industry's willingness to take foolish risks with lots of money.

I don't question their willingness to take risks on proven IPs. Talent is another story.

Alex Kurtzman just got a $160M contract to keep ruining Star Trek for another 5 years.

Paramount have been treating Star Trek fans like something stuck to the bottom of their shoe for decades, and yet the penny never drops with said fans that they're just not part of this equation.
