Looks like their doing a blu-ray too. If you wanted the Arrow, I suggest you go for it now!

Don’t have this on Blu-ray yet, so I may as well grab this edition.

Cover art looks ****ing awesome. I like the Arrow one, but Kino's completely smokes all other versions.

I don't usually do this but I'm probably gonna still hang onto my Arrow after getting the Kino. The Arrow, in addition to having a gorgeous transfer, has a ton of great extras and the LE came with an 80-page hardcover book. Definitely holding onto that.

I won't lie, I wish more boutique labels used the original poster art as the focus and didn't bother with commissions. I know other labels include the original art on the reverse, which is obviously better than nowt, but when I see a nice slip with that OG art... it makes me a bit wet.

Let's hope the "original 2.0 mono" is ACTUALLY the original mono and not a downmix of the 5.1 remix.

No HDR grade
Luckily, the Arrow looks mighty spectacular upscaled to 4k as is, so I can wait to see if someone better releases this after Kino. I certainly wont be buying on the first week and risking any of their potential screw ups.

Glad I grabbed the Arrow before it goes OOP in the US. I haven't watched it upscaled yet, but I'm sure it'll look fantastic.

The Arrow Blu-ray is still readily available, and also re: no HDR, if this is encoded at 10-bit it will still have a greater grey-scale than the 8-bit video on the Blu-ray.

I picked this up - as a blind buy- when it was an Arrow collector’s edition based on plenty of hype. I kept reading how great, classic this film is.
IMO- it o.k.
A bit of bore and I just don’t understand a need for a 4k version.
It’s more or less just a play on film.

I'll be curious how the grading/grayscale will be. The Arrow tends to kind of de-emphasize blacks and they "white out" a bit too much of the highlights and/or studio lights.

Due to the lack of HDR? I'm ok with my Arrow set, so I'll be passing on this one as well.

I still have the old MGM blu-ray from 2012 and didn't buy the Arrow release so I will be upgrading to this one. I'm also really digging the cover art.

Right. TGTBATU turned out pretty good even without the HDR…all things considered. The color grading correction finally obliterated the ugly yellow tint.

Definitely curious about the encode as well.

What’s up with Kino dropping HDR for like half their 4Ks? Budget issues?

As I've said before the audio should be an important focus on this release. Nothing sounds as good as the old LD. That's the one flaw with the lovely Arrow box.

If the audio was as good as the LD that fact plus the McBride commentary would make this a must own.
