First ever sub 1h run for me in RE2R. This was done on a base PS5, but with the PS4 version of the game, played on a 60Hz TV. The 120Hz option of the PS5 was turned OFF. Therefore I played the entire game with a cap of 60 FPS. No bonus weapons used either. The only weapons I used were the Matilda without upgrades, the flamethrower and breakable knives. I didn't use the infinite knife. Of course I used grenades and flashbangs. It couldn't have been any closer than that.

Played the remake briefly while I was banned (a week after playing the original for the first and second time). Have 70 hours and last beat it in February of 2022.

I can't play the standard difficulty because it has auto-saves. I refuse to have my progress automatically saved. The zombies on hard are more annoying than I remembered. So many shots to the head, and you can't cripple them with one shot (or three shots) to the leg, and it takes too long to place a shot as the dot has to steady (which also throws you off as the cam zooms in). All this, the cost of moving and shooting with a second analog stick or mouse. The new camera wasn't such a problem in RE4 because the environments were more expansive and there were more enemies, but you can't crowd the spaces too much in a police station really made for the original PlayStation.

Why is it so dark? Just turn on the light. I haven't played the RE4 remake, but am now thinking back to the reveal that much of what took place in daylight in the village is now at night.

I chose the new music. Bland, but the incomplete old music will be even more out of place now that I've played the original.

Feels more soulless now. I'll delete it again. Was just curious.

I posted this over in the RE4R thread, might as well here.

In case anyone is wondering. It's the same for the physical PS5 Gold Edition in Europe. You still have to download 'Not a Hero', everything else is on Disc. There was an update for it, roughly 400 MB in size, updating it to version 1.004 . So I'm wondering if the're just selling the PS4 Gold Edition repackaged. That would be very...Capcom.

-------------------------------------------

No idea what's on the RE2R disc but I will purchase that next and will post what I'll learn here. I do not know what the situation will be like for North American copies though, so keep that in mind.

Edit: This site doesn't mention a voucher so maybe everything's on disc

I bought the new Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 PS5 physical disc releases a couple of weeks ago, what does everyone want to know about them?

I didn’t even have to install Resident Evil 2 and 3, they loaded up straight away using all of the already installed data from owning the previous PS4 discs versions and free PS5 download upgrades.

OK, picked up the physical RE2 release. There was a patch (1.000.003) which was 300 MB in size and there were 9 add-ons that were not on disc (costumes, guns and the sountrack swap). No idea if the Ghost Survivors DLC was on disc or if it was part of the patch.

Are the discs newly pressed with PS5 branding?

yup, on UHD Blu-rays. So I guess no repackaging but odd that they left stuff off of the discs.

RE2 from 1998 is the GOAT of survival horror gaming.

I remember pre-ordering the US release. When it arrived at the store I raced there, raced back home, never to be seen again. Well, at least not for a few days.

Similar situation with RE1 back in '96. Pre-ordered it from Play ( think that was the name of the store (back when stores sent out catalogues, lack of internet and all). Took it out of the mailbox, ran upstairs....and was immediately bummed because the intro was in black & white But damn, the game blew me away. It was unlike anything I had played before.

Well and then, next thing you know, you got old. But I still try to keep my inner 14 year old alive and be passionate about the things I love. But man, nothing will ever come close to such first revelations.

Disappointing about the costumes.

However, DoesitPlay has confirmed that the PS5 patches (HFR + Ray tracing) & The Ghost Survivors is on disc.

https://www.doesitplay.org/game/Resi...rsion=Standard

So it is an improvement over the PS4 version, just missing a few things.

--------

On a similar note, they confirmed Resident Evil 3 has the PS5 patch on the disc, but is also missing costume DLC.

https://www.doesitplay.org/game/Resi...rsion=Standard

------

Really a shame on both fronts, they came close to being complete and just missed it. RE2 still sounds like it'd probably be worth the upgrade though, since you get extra modes + it has more replay value than 3 anyway.

Capcom is preparing a native PS5 version of Resident Evil 6 if new ESRB age ratings are to be believed. The outlet has a new listing for an "Xbox Series" version of the game (spotted by VGC), suggesting current-gen ports are on the way, with a PS5 port almost certainly included.

RE6 is underrated. If true, I wonder what the PS5 version will bring

True, definitely on the lower tier of my Resident Evil experiences, but not a terrible game. I actually didn't play 6 until last year for the first time on the ps4 re-release though.

I loved RE6. I get why it made not be everyone's cup of tea as it amps up the levels of action and nonsensical plot to 11. But I genuinely like playing it.

I really don't think we need Resident Evil 5 or 6 to get the REmake treatment.

I thought Resident Evil 4 was pushing it, but at least they did a great job with it.

HD ports of Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 for the PS4 work on PS5 and include all DLC. Do we really need time and resources put into this when they could be put into Code Veronica, Dino Crisis or a new Resi experience altogether.

Or even 0. Not even for the graphics update. Give that game a thorough once over in the gameplay department and I’d be happy.

6 came out a few months into my wife and I's relationship back when we were first dating. It was a really fun bonding experience. Curious what a new remaster would bring to the table when 6 is already playable on PS5/Series x/s.

Haven't even touched 6 yet. Was making my way through the series. In a weird order at first but I played 7, 8, 2R, 3R, 4R, and 5. RE6 is technically next so I'm curious about this.

But why skip 5? I don't get that part.

Latest rumors say that 0 might be indeed the next RE game we are getting. Even before RE9.
