Peacock's "Poker Face" (Season 1)

Hadn't heard of this but would like to check it out. Lyonne is one of those actors who really grew on me over the years. Thought she was pretty forgettable in the American Pie films as a kid, but she's been on fire with tv shows the last decade.

I hear ya, but what your suggestion would fundamentally change the show.

I first read a synopsis of Poker Face as a “Howdunnit”, much like Columbo. It’s also akin to the way they changed up Law and Order: Criminal Intent vs. Law and Order and the first spin-off Law and Order: SVU. In those initial Law and Order’s, we are trying to work out who did it, like the detectives, and in this classic example it’s a “Whodunnit”.

However, with Criminal Intent, we are shown a bit of the crime and know the perpetrator, the fun is watching the detectives work it out and how they finally determine how the murderer did it, and often use psychological tactics to get a confession. Much like Columbo did. Hence, a “howdunnit”. And Poker Face carries on the Columbo/Criminal Intent tradition.

I’m hooked and will most likely blind buy this one on BD, going by the positive feedback here and from critics on Tomatoes (98%).

Just saw in the news they're filming an episode from season 2 yesterday and today! Can't wait to see the next season! REALLY hope they put this out on BD like season 1!

And since I'm wishing can I add Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man to my wishlist for 4k (I'd even settle for BD at this point!)

Holy shit the season 2 debut episode was TERRIBLE. So stupid I didn't even finish watching. Hopefully the season gets better.

I'm honestly curious what you thought was good about the first episode? Was it the sisters acting perfectly normal even though one their sisters committed suicide literally hours before? Or maybe it was the train tracks that ran next to a cliff on a BEACH?!

Ugh the first 2 are a tough watch.

She seems stoned in both episodes.

Something does seem off this season so far. I just watched the

episode and have found myself just sitting through them rather than following along trying to figure them out like the first season.

I think all eps are fun watches but overall to me it's just an ok show. There are a few stand outs like the S1 premiere, the one in the snow with Joseph Gordon Levitt, and the last two I saw from S2 (the baseball ep with Simon Rex and the one with the little girl) were pretty good.

Only on the AI drug as far as I can tell. Her current S.O. is pushing some AI sh*t or another so she's been on the hype train for it.

Well, I have to say - I've really enjoyed the 2nd seasons so far, which has been near-perfect, and with just one episode to go, I hope it ends with a bang.

Got to see an episode and enjoyed it. Really hope it comes out on disk like season 1!! (Verizon just bought out our ISP with, I assume, NO hope of them ever getting us fiber, and most likely will discontinue our sh!tty DSL (1MB download!!) in the future due to no one wanting to maintain it, so we're really hoping streamers will put stuff out on disk)

I have to agree with others that Season 2 hasn't been as good as Season 1. I'm 8 episodes in so far. Episodes 7 and 8 have been by far the best episodes of the season, especially 8, and have actually felt like last season.

E11 was ridiculous...and that body bag dissolve was the best part of the episode.
