She said she just found it really depressing ha ha.
I'm so glad I don't feel this way about films. Or music or any art. I feel sorry for people who can't channel that raw devastating emotion into the beautiful compositions they are.

The film 'Close' (2022) did the same thing to me. Utterly devastating. But amazingly directed and acted. Instead of depression, I'm left with a deep love of these type of films as they move me so much.

Yeah she just tends to like action and horror movies. I do too but i also enjoy stuff with a bit more emotion (well emotion other than fear ha ha).

Go and buy an all-region player. They’re not even expensive.

Wonderful movie. I can see why Paul Mescal got what is likely the first of many Oscar nominations to come. Aftersun pairs nicely with his other A24 release of 2022, God's Creatures.

It’s time to give this one a try. Is it included in any of the streaming platforms or is it only available for rent?

It's currently available for purchase through Amazon Prime, Vudu, iTunes, Google Play, Microsoft, etc. For the last week it's been on sale for $12.99, which is what I snagged it at. If you want it, I'd recommend purchasing it before the end of today because I'm pretty sure the sale won't continue for this current week.

If that’s the case I’ll just give this one a rental first - this looks like I could love or hate it. Thanks for the reply.

I just caught this on Showtime and really enjoyed it. The ending hits you pretty damn hard in the feels, especially when you consider moments throughout like
[Show spoiler]Callum walking in front of the bus without stopping; his conversation with the diving instructor; the rug purchase when he couldn’t afford it; the talk about Cleopatra’s death; and the self defense lessons… the dancing climax was raw emotion without words.

Same. I'm lying here the morning after watching it and am tearing up. Waiting for my kids to get up so I can spend the day with them .This was one of the best movies I've ever seen

Yup.

I think about it on an almost weekly basis. It affected me so much.

I'm not one for awards, I hate them, but I watched this live as it went out and I cried nearly as much as I did when watching the bloody film:

I don’t have kids, but I still found this utterly breathtaking, including the gut punch of an ending. A work of art, and the director and leads deserved all the credit coming to them.

Very rare I give films ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ maybe once or twice per year on average, but this deserved it.
