Indeed, Voyager's biggest flaw was it's characters, their conceptions, and ongoing development with poor writing and plot ideas. Much of this was due to executive/network meddling. Had the show cooked a bit longer in the developmental phases and not been pushed out quickly, to launch UPN, it could have been much better in the earlier seasons, which would have led to even better episodes on the back-half.

Because they didn't have the courage to really make a show about being stuck 75,000 light years from home. It was a big miss, and that's not even considering the Maquis almost immediately put on Starfleet uniforms.

And I'll never forgive Janeway for Tuvix. That's the nail in the coffin for her.

If you don't want to pay for anything but want to check out some series Pluto has TOS, TNG, and Voyager.

The Maquis were wannabe terrorists trying to seek attention, but for what is anybody's guess. TNG touched on them a little bit, and so did DS9, but the nature of the Maquis group and its specific purpose was never nailed down.

That was definitely a controversial episode, and remains so even today. The notion of sacrificing one life that should never have been made in the first place, versus recognizing that life and losing two friends in the process...its the kind of debate that Trek has encouraged for decades.

Absolute nonsense. You really should have paid attention.

I tried to watch Enterprise when it debuted and couldn't get into it.

I guess I wasnt interested in a prequel but my old Star Trek buddy says that Enterprise is underrated.

I couldn't get into Enterprise, either...mainly because it looked too advanced for a prequel series. Everything was all shiny and new, and it appeared more fit for a TNG era than anything before the original series.

On first viewing I thought ENT was "Meh".

On second viewing, many many years later, I quite enjoyed it. Perhaps going in with low expectations helped the second time around but it was far better than I remembered. The first few seasons are hit and (mostly) miss, but years three and four were very good.

Enterprise S3 does the Voyager shtick better than Voyager did. The ship is beat to hell and they're surrounded by the unknown. I really enjoyed it.

The Paramount Plus YouTube channel also has free episodes. They just put up the entire first season of Strange New Worlds, so people could watch it for free, before the second season hits.

Apart from TOS? I always found TNG, DS9 and Voyager to be a bit stuffy with stiff performances. Discovery is not worth watching or the cartoons. Strange New Worlds is still modern Trek that cannot escape its spin-off status from Discovery. It’s ok but poor acting kinda ruins it. That leaves Enterprise which probably works best if you missed the late 80s/90s Trek.

SNW tries but ultimately it’s a modern pastiche version that cannot capture the original magic. Regrettably forgettable.

Remember the group of Maquis who started a mini rebellion. They were put down and told they would have limited access to the ship? Nothing was ever followed up on that story.

There was a single early episode where the Maquis crew on Voyager that hadn't already agreed to the amnesty offer were told to shape up and behave by joining the ranks of the crew or be thrown out the airlock. Beyond that, it was never addressed again and they didn't really have the opportunity or time to do that, though we know that they were planning to overthrow the Starfleet crew early on, via Seska's pre-Kazon alliance machinations.

I couldn't stand any story involving the Maquis. Loved it when the Dominion wrote them out of the series for good. Lol
