it anyone was wondering like me the difference versus the imprint release, here is what was on that disc:
NEW A Hired Gun – editor Lee Percy on Blue Steel
NEW The Phallic Woman: Deconstructing Blue Steel – with film historian Professor Jennifer Moorman
NEW Staring Down the Barrel – production designer Tony Corbett on Blue Steel
NEW A Profound Emotional Response – video essay by film historian Chris O’Neill
Trailer

so it has all the features from the imprint release plus commentary, tv spots, vintage promo and still gallery. though it does lose the content from the booklet in the release i assume. not bad for the price point it will be. Of course that only leaves the transfer which we will probably have to wait for the disc release to see how it looks, but probably the same as the imprint release?

Given the track record there is no way this will have a new scan; likely will be utilizing the same master as Imprint, which is fine but Blue Steel is very worthy of a new scan or a 4K at this point.

100% agreed! I wish that it be a new 2K scan, but it seems that it's not going to be even that, which shouldn't come no surprise to anyone. The policy of this line will never change.........

Which one of the two German releases you own; StudioCanal 2018 release (that drops the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix) or Concorde Video 2012 release (that offers the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix)??

By the way, does anyone have a clue about the source of those two? Do those based on same source?

Careful now, a certain someone on this board will take offense personally if you complain about LG.

Hopefully Lionsgate does some massaging of the master to make it look better. IE Less sharpening.

Never got around to buying this movie, only ever saw my taped VHS off German TV. Last saw the movie in the early 90s. But I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
On that matter: does anyone on here know, if all previous releases were identical regarding PQ? The reviews on this site aren't too flattering, they mention edge enhancement...
With that said, the caps on "caps-o" don't look displeasing at all, IMO. There was an old release in Germany by Concorde (2012) and a more recent one from Studiocanal/ Lionsgate (2018), both of which are quite cheap. Does anyone on here know, how the two compare regarding PQ? Caps-o-holic only shows the aforementioned Concorde release compared to US DVD...
If the Studiocanal/Lionsgate release is identical to the Concorde in regards of PQ, I'd be an idiot to import the Vestron Disc, as there is also a PCM stereo track on board...

I think the price is good and I like the two leads. A strong day 1 purchase possibility

If you haven't seen it, and are contemplating a blind buy, I would rent it first.

It's definitely a formula picture, which is fine, but if plot holes and stupidity along the way in reaching the destination bug you, then this might try your patience, to put it kindly.

If you watch Blue Steel from the mindset of it being Laurie Strode as a Cop still being stalked by Michael Myers it makes it an even better movie. As it does tend to follow the beats of a Halloween movie...

Will you Blu-ray.com reviewers please distinguish the difference? 2.0 doesn't tell us a whole helluva lot other than there being two channels.

I’m not the reviewer, just a forum member linking to the review.

The 2.0 on the Imprint disc is just 2.0, it's not matrixed to either mono or surround.

It's 2.0 audio and not mono or surround.

It's crazy that three of the most well-known actors in this have passed.

Just finished watching this release. Haven't watched this in a dogs age, but really enjoyed it as an adult. Ron Silver steals the show, but both Jamie Lee Curtis and Clancy Brown are great in this. I've actually always really seeing enjoyed seeing Clancy Brown playing a hero from time to time. He's actually in the video game Detroit: Become Human. Still, solid release.
