It would've been stealthier just to up everyone's subscription by 5 dollars or 5 quid. Keep the ads away surcharge is taking the piss.

The eventual result of the lawsuit... your Amazon Prime price is going up, up up!

We’re going to jam through what little there is left of the original content we want to watch and then dump Prime. I mostly wanted it for shipping, and that’s become a joke. They’ve made this an easy decision.

It also would have been different if they had done this "at your next renewal". So people could make a choice. I paid for a year of Prime in October - which included ad-free video. To tell me three months later "yeah, if you want that, pay more" is just unacceptable. You should at least be ad-free until your next renewal period.

Amazon Prime has gone up significantly in price, and the service has just gotten worse. They keep adding stupid "benefits" that no one uses, and take away the ones that made it most valuable. All the Prime sales also suck most of the time - just the same junk that usually goes on sale, and anything that truly looks like a deal often isn't (sure, you can get that hot electronic item at a what looks like a discount - then you see it's just an older model they are trying to get rid of, and so on). It all just preys on FOMO and getting rid of the junk they can't sell.

And all that isn't even to mention how slow the shipping has gotten, the primary reason for having it - no more pay a few bucks for overnight, and the 2-day thing is now often 4 or 5 days anyway.

It's been a long time coming, but this just finally put me over the edge, after like 15+ years of Prime, I'm ready to be done.

I am really upset over not having Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos unless you pay the new monthly surcharge. I tested it today with Reacher, The Tomorrow War and Top Gun 2 (I purchased this one from Amazon) And they all will play HDR and 5.1, but no Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos.

Someone on YouTube said these streaming services make way more money with the ads so they keep raising prices for the no-ads hoping you cave and get the ad service. So expect this from all streaming services. Personally I wouldn't mind if they just kept it to the tv shows but movies are a no go for me.

I haven’t minded the ads as much, I do wish they would use the written in commercial break instead of at random moments!

Technically, it's been around for five years. It used to be called IMDb TV.

So watched Roadhouse not knowing what to expect ad wise as this was the first thing I have watched on Prime since they introduced ads.

It played the trailer for A24’s Civil War at the start, but there were no other ads during Roadhouse after the initial ad. If that’s how it’s going to be then it’s not as bad as I initially thought it would be.

Have yet to watch a show/series. Planning on watching Fallout so will be interesting to see if it’s also a one and done ad prior to the episode or if any ads will interrupt midway.

The ads have been very inconsistent. Sometimes there will be a very brief ad at the beginning and then no interruptions. When I watch House, MD I get short ad breaks where the commercials would usually go on TV. Yet one time my wife picked a low budget Hallmark type movie and there were 2-3 minute long ad breaks constantly. I’m not upgrading to remove the ads though. For the most part it’s been fine.

Is there a way to just get Prime Video only and pay the extra 2 bucks for ad free? I don't want the full price Prime (very rarely order from their site), but I would like Prime Video again if I can get it without ads.

$9.00 for PrimeVideo + $2.99 ad free = $11.99 per month

Yearly AmazonPrime $139 / 12 = $11.58 per month

Yearly AmazonPrime $139 + Ad Free $35.88 / 12 = $14.57

So yeah… you would be saving about $2.50 per month doing it that way if you don’t want the full membership.

Streaming definitely sucks. It appeals to people who don't think and that's most of folks.

I haven't used Prime Video since long before they added ads. I avoid ads - seems to be a good idea. When I do see ads it tends to steer me away from whatever they are desperately trying to sell.
