Companies joining to push music on memory cards

This would be a new PHYSICAL music format.

Quote:
Most albums are still sold in a physical format — 449 million were sold on CDs in 2007, while 50 million were sold digitally, according to Nielsen SoundScan
We're a decade into downloaded music. And seven years of legal downloaded music.

And yet, if we were to believe the pundits, downloads apparently will be replacing Blu-ray next week.

not only the obvious perks to having transferable hard copies (can be used on more than one machine), but its so great to buy a disc that has been professionally prepared, downloads will have sooo many flaws

why only pundits, how many insane "look at DL music, no one buys media any more" posts are on this site?

50/(450+50)= 10% and DL music has supposedly taken over the world on the other hand after so many years but BD is around 10% of movies now and is no where and dying because DL movies will take it's place (even though DL movies is stagnating at around 1%

It's true.

Try trading in a downloaded movie to Blockbuster.

I tried it, got a funny look and asked to leave.

Relevant portion of the link:

449 million albums were sold on CD.
50 million were sold online.

Lets see that's 9 times more sold in a store then online.

I wonder how that would work if they cut off Blu's next week and went digital only. I have an odd feeling they wouldn't even reach the 5 million movies sold before it went belly up.
