She was six feet of black dynamite, he was a short, Hasidic Jew.
She fought a savage battle to stay alive in the ghetto, he studied the Talmud at night! While she burned the ghetto to the ground, he kindled the Sabbath candles! Theirs was a love of passion, a torrid, sensual lust, fueled by those who said "NO!!!" Samuel L. Bronkowitz presents... Cleopatra Schwartz!!! |

Yeah, it's the same credits that are listed on Amazon, which is what led me to realizing what the set was for. I mentioned it in the first post. Leslie Nielsen could very well be doing double-duty there for both Airplane and Naked Gun.

Personally, I prefer AIRPLANE II: THE SEQUEL to THE NAKED GUN (*sound of playing record scratching loudly and going silent as all forum eyes turn murderously toward Filmmaker*), so I’m still dreaming that somehow makes an appearance even though it’s not truly a ZAZ production, though I realize it’s highly unlikely.

I could hazard a guess. They mention in the commentary how the last third of the movie is too plot driven. By which they meant that they felt obliged to fill the last third of the movie with material that made the plot seem important and substantial and it messes up the rhythm of comedy scene after comedy scene that the first two thirds set. And the final few scenes feel tired and sluggish. With Airplane! they already had the plot (the whole movie in fact) and knew how much time to spend on it to get the audience on board. But with Top Secret! they had to come up with their own plot. By Naked Gun they got better at this though.
It could be they recut the last act to make it a bit less of a chore. |
