The colour saturation of the BD gets messed up at around the halfway point. Even for a cheapie release, I'm very disappointed.

CG animation early in the movie is awful. looks like pre-production planning video. remember watching this on .........vhs. not a bad pick up for $10.

This movie is currently included in a bin at Walmart for $6. Very few Blu-rays aren't worth $6.

just watched, not bad for a 6 bone blu-ray.

Forgot that the great Betty White was in this film, while she was good in her role, nothing can top her performance in Lake Placid!

Never understood all the hate this one gets, it's a solid action film with a great cast.

Not the greatest looking Blu transfer, but i got it really cheap.

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie when I was a kid (it might have been known as "The Flood" at that point) and I thought it looked awesome. It's amazing that it's taken me 15 years to finally see it. I had low expectations going in since the movie bombed and was shredded by the critics. I wasn't blown away, but I thought it was pretty solid (I'd give it a 3/5). It's sad how far Christian Slater's star power has fallen. Maybe he'll make a comeback some day.

The audio track on this one is great. It's worth buying for that alone.

By the way, this blu-ray went OOP recently. Get it while you can!

I think you just answered my question as to why this is so bloody expensive for an older film.

I absolutely love this movie and I was really pleased with the transfer. It's a shame they didn't scrape together any archive extras for it as I bet the shooting of this movie was a real challenge. It has great sense of scale and you can tell a lot of money was spent on it. Good cast, great production design and fx and good direction with strong action scenes.

Does anyone know how the UK Universal release compares to the Lionsgate disc picture-wise? Is there a caps comparison around somewhere? I want to buy the Universal release but I fear that there might be additional DNR compared to Lionsgate...

I found a sealed copy at a flea market for only $5, pretty good deal for an OOP title, but to my surprise I open it and the disc has that yellowish tint that older Lionsgate titles have.

Now I’m nervous.

There's nothing to be nervous about. You won't know if its defected until you play it. As a matter of fact, I just watched this movie a couple of days ago on blu-ray and I always enjoy it. It looked pretty good upscaled on my 4K TV as well.

It's not yellow, it has a slight gold color to it, so there shouldn't be nothing wrong it. It must've been the type of disc that Paramount had used to manufactured their copies when it was released ten years ago. There may be other blu-ray movies that look the same way, but never noticed it.

Early Lionsgate titles that ended up rotting were known to bronze and change color.

My copy that I bought 10 years ago still play without a hitch, I just watched it a couple of days ago. If your disc plays without any problems that's all that matters, but you'll never find out if you don't play it. I wouldn't worry about how the disc look like on the outside. As long as the movie plays (which I'm quite sure it will) but if it doesn't, you will only be out of $5.00. It's not like you've paid $60.00 for it on ebay.

Just watched it and it plays fine with no issue.
