IMO, its not worth letting anyone dictate what media you consume or dont consume. But, you do you. ![]() People skipping shows because someone they dislike said to watch it? Thats absurd. Show is excellent. Period. |

It was very well done.
Episode 2 was damning with regard to the state of some schools. The standout episode for me was probably episode 3 with the psychiatrist. Episode 4 took me by surprise, I was expecting a [Show spoiler] . However, it went in a different direction and focussed on the impact on the family. It was interesting how little focus there was on the victim and specific details about the case, however again that wasn’t the focus of the show. |

I haven’t watched this show yet, I might subscribe to Netflix for a month just to watch it. The show was a hot topic in the media a couple of months ago. Feminism and online dating are at the very core of this issue. Modern feminism has failed, men decided to take a backseat and have allowed women to do things that they thought would better for society their way over the last 10-20 years, and we are now seeing the results of women’s poor management.
Now that dating apps have been around as the popular norm choice for the last 10-15 years there’s now enough data evidence to demonstrate and support that they’re a failure… “Online dating has created a winner take most if not all environment. It’s basically been amazing for tall, attractive, and wealthy guys, for all of the other guys it’s been a disaster, and it’s made it mildly 💩er for every woman. The digitisation of dating I believe has been a disaster, it’s been bad for women, and disastrous for men.” One of the interview speakers involved in the podcast video is Logan Ury, she is a behavioural scientist and dating coach who studied at Harvard, and she works for the dating app Hinge as the director of relationship science (Hinge is regarded as one of the better dating apps too). Through the 2 and half hour video I posted there are multiple times where Logan acknowledges and admits to the failures of online dating apps and how devastating they have been for men and women in society based on data that she reviews daily. It’s an interesting video with a lot truths about the issue, though the problem with the video is it ultimately focuses on what men are doing wrong and the message basically is that men just need to do better, and ignores that women also need to start making changes and doing better too, otherwise the issues are only going to get worse. How do we start to reverse the problem and get men and women back on track? I think a good start would be banning online dating apps, and holding Musk and Zuckerberg plus others accountable for the damage that their targeted algorithms do to vulnerable people. Recently I have had to pull back from 2 very close friends, one male because he has become a red pill extremist, and the other a female friend that I have known for 25 years because she has become a bit too extreme with left wing feminism. Both become this way by being feed too much content on Facebook and TikTok that skewed their original views and push them in the far directions they now belong to that they wouldn’t have gone in if it weren’t for the social media algorithms. |

It’s amazing that you were able to watch a 2 and a half hour podcast video in the 36 minutes between me posting it and you posting. The podcast video I posted discussing men’s issues and the data/statistics, and online dating etc, is directly linked to the issues seen in the Adolescence Netflix show, that’s the purpose of the podcast video. The podcast video was recorded and released 2 months ago around when Adolescence was released.

Closer to the end than the beginning

In fact, it's worth noting that a not insignificant number of the most high profile knife crime incidents amongst school aged children have involved girls as aggressors or instigators (eg, the high profile and horrific murder of a transgender child a few years ago). Again, nothing to do with misogynistic "influencers." It seems that young people in the UK may be becoming more violent (and this is also up for debate), but it's not a simple "boys versus girls" issue. Anecdotally, speaking as someone who works in education and has spoken with peers and colleagues from across the country about this issue, most young men seem to regard the Tate brothers, etc, as something of a joke. There may be specific subsets within certain inner cities, etc, where this isn't the case - but the moral panic that has built up in the UK over the past few years about the supposed cult surrounding misogynistic "influencers" is just that: a moral panic. It sidesteps the complex and variant issues surrounding youth violence (and knife crime in particular), much of which is linked to poverty, poor parental inputs, bullying (Adolescence hints at this, in some dialogue suggesting the boy has been bullied, but then pulls back from it), lack of government intervention in terms of negating impacts of poverty, schools having their hands tied when dealing with issues of bullying, etc. It's far easier for the government to propagate the idea of harm caused by online "influencers" than it is for them to tackle the very real and immediate social problems that cause violence (and other criminal behaviour). It puts the cart before the horse - and misdiagnoses a symptom as a cause. Looking back, we'll see it as absurd as the moral panics about suburban witchcraft in the 1980s or the "hoody" panic in the early 2000s. These controversies aren't aided by some discussion of this drama in the media as a "documentary," leading to an incident on Breakfast News in which one of the presenters referred to the drama several times as a "documentary." (This is a promotional tactic that Netflix have used before, labelling some of their dramas - albeit based on fact, so fact-based dramas - as "documentaries.") The PM's idea that this drama should be shown in schools as a teaching aid is disingenuous. Many teachers and educational professionals signed a petition to prevent this - not only for how misleading and simplistic the drama's approach to knife crime is, but also for its potential negative impact if shown to school children of the ages the PM suggested through trauma, use of "shock tactics," normalisation of radicalisation, mirroring, and escalation. That doesn't take away from how impactful and technically excellent Adolescence is. It's bravura, with some great performances. It's an excellent speculative drama, but speaking as someone who has worked in education for a quarter of a century, the discourse surrounding the show (which fudges the real and the imaginary) is deeply frustrating. It's fiction. Well-produced and delivered fiction, but fiction nonetheless. |

For someone that’s seen the show you obviously don’t understand it very well. Even in the trailer it mentions the manosphere and 80% of women being attracted to only the top 20% of men. That’s how many women “shop” for men nowadays on dating apps, and those statistics are discussed in the podcast video I posted. Online dating and it’s impact on this issue isn’t the only thing that’s discussed in the podcast video I posted, a lot of issues about what’s contributed to men’s issues and where we are currently at are discussed in the podcast video. And until you watch the podcast video you will continue not understanding the Netflix show.
