Actually, there's something they can do for that.

Only times we used it at the store I worked at was when we couldn't prove they were actually taking anything, and that's issuing criminal trespass. Just denied the priviledge of shopping there.

I just flip around and go "Can I help you?", they go no no nope and run away... I think I receive some experience points for this as well and sometimes something shiny.

What I think was going on, is the item was not worth 20 dollars, it was probably worth almost nothing, I assume they place a higher ticket price artificially lower it to make you feel good about the purchase, but in the

hmm that's funny, but you shouldn't be doing that because in some stores if they find you with merchandise in your pocket even around the store they can charge you.
