Oh geeze, how could I forget old TI? I still have it! 12/23/82 is the day I bought it. That date is burned in my memory and I haven't thought about it in years and years.

I was still buying software for up until 1990. I accumulated about 90 cartridges, mostly games, and thought how much better it was than the Atari 2600 - and it was!

Default Shinobi!

We had a Shinobi console in the lounge room at my college dorm. Getting to the end on a single quarter is one of my favorite college memories.

Nice, do you know if it still works?

I really wish I would have held on to some of the early stuff. I think the Pong (console) is still at my grandmother's house but I got rid of everything else. I still had a lot of old PC stuff until around 6 or 7 years ago but during a move, I threw out hundreds of 5 1/4 inch and 3 1/2 inch floppys. A lot of games like the King's Quest series, some old versions of Windows (like Windows 386), several versions of DOS, Autocad, Dbase, etc. I regret it now although I'm not sure why. It's not like I could do anything with it.

Edit: People may know about this already, but there was a company called Tierra (looks like the name is different now) that remade some of the King's Quest series. I think it's still free.

Here's the link: http://www.agdinteractive.com/

Sample of the remake of King's Quest II showing the old vs the new...

A pile of Sierra classics. Space/Police/King's Quest plus the Al Lowe Larry games are now available for $10-20 in full packs. Just do a search for them on Amazon.

Ahh, two of my favorites. Especially Altered Beast. The arcade version was a much richer experience. But I played and played that trying to get through all the levels. "POWER up!"

Tron! I still play that at Disney Quest in Orlando. Zaxxon and Tempest were great too. Personally, I loved Arkanoid as well!

I still play this game. Was Konami not the greatest at music too? I loved playing Castlevania.

I've been so tempted to do these several times. The funny thing is, I've had opportunity to play them here and there over the years (since I was a kid playing) and I've just not done very well with them. I don't know if have just lost the ability to think outside of the box as I've grown older or what the deal is, but I used to pour hours into these games and I am quite proud to say I've beaten the majority of them at one point or another -- and they are HARD.

Also, most of these now are available as straight downloads from various sites (gamestop.com, direct2drive). I may just start picking them up again, they're so cheap. The Police Quest games are awesome.

yeah, Bases Loaded was great! Jersey was the home run monsters.

Cant believe anyone remembered Rygar. Man that game was hard.

And Act Raiser was graphically one of the best games ever on the SNES.

About 8 years ago I was thinking about all of the fun NES games I would play as a kid. I didn't have my NES anymore so I went to the local game-stop and bought a used NES and a couple of games:

The Legend of Zelda
Mike Tysons Punch Out
Kung Fu
Contra
Castlevania
Super Mario 3

I was shocked that they had all of these games in stock. I only had intentions of buying Zelda but after talking to the clerk I ended up leave with a lot more. The NES lasted me another 5 years. Good times

I got on a kick a while back when I went home (back south) to try and find my NES and all of my games. I had ALL the classics (probably about 30 cartridges), but the thing was nowhere to be found.

I hear ya -- those were and can be some good times. Thank the maker for the Virtual Console on the Wii.

Especially impressive for a near launch title. Actraiser was designed to show the giant character sprites and rotation effects the SNES could handle that other platforms before it couldn't. It also helped that it was a fun, well-made game.
