I was pretty shocked at how low the bidding price was... something like $750 million or so... seemed low to me, I guess CC was worst off than I thought.

CC stock is at about 3-4 USD, down from 17 2006 Christmas.

makes sense to me. the rental business is going bye bye, blockbuster actually has had pretty decent mgt. to have not gone belly up as rentals continue to decrease and the difference in rental price and buying price continues to decrease. look at how many other rental chains have gone bankrupt. could be a smart move for Blockbuster, maybe they can turn CC around.

The last few times I have tried to buy -anything- from CC, I end up waiting in a line for half an hour or two just to pay for it, then another half an hour or two just for them to retrieve the items from the back (when applicable). I went in once to try to buy a wiimote and nun-chuck, and stood in a line for half an hour that never moved, so I said screw it, put the crap away and left. Screw them. They deserve to go belly up if they dont even -want- to sell you something.

I believe it's the idea of the one-stop-shop like Super Wally's. So when you go rent some movies you can purchase other electronics, etc...like how Red Box is at Mickey D's. Don't know if it will work but BB is probably seeing Red Box, Net Flix, etc... eating at their market share. So next time you buy/rent your movies you can checkout the latest computers/tv/etc... Could work...

One of the main challenges of the shop owners is to get more and more people in to the shop. Making large one-stop-shops is a good idea to achieve this. Go for a rental and might end up buying some electronics or vice versa!
