I've known people who would pay $300-500 for a movie to get it before it was publicly released. Personally, no way.
Well, there is only one possible exception I can think of and that is Transformers 2. I'd be really tempted at $100 to get it on Blu-Ray on opening day without having even seen it. I saw Transformers in the theatres twice with my wife.. that is like $40 right there plus gas and then paid full price for the DVD. So $100 to get it in HD opening day isn't too much of a stretch. |

Maybe if they offered it in IMAX resolution I would consider it.

Hmmmmm ....<contemplates while looking at his long-standing Iron Man avatar> ....well, it might be a 'close call' with certain movies (like Iron Man); I have to say that $100 breaks the threshold of reason. Patience is a virtue, and let's face it: this would probably be a 'plain vanilla' release (no extras, etc) if a day-and-date BD was offered for a theatrically-premiering movie.
I've paid some high import prices for some PS3 games & accessories (I had the Japanese versions of Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, and the DualShock 3 months before their American release), but even those were only about $20 above what the 'normal' price would be. I've bought a small handful of import DVD's over the years (and just snagged the French release of Dune on BD!); but even those were within the $50-60 threshold. I remember some laserdiscs available only on import back-in-the-day that I really wanted, but couldn't stomach the $100-150 "rarity fees". ![]() So, no: I have to think that $100 breaks the tolerance level (when you just know it will be out within 2-3 months on sale for $25 at Best Buy). <But, if they had offered Iron Man ..... ???> ![]() |

Heck no, and a movie studio would be insane to think it'd be worth spending the money to press the few copies that would sell at that price.
Blu-rays aren't exactly flying out the door at the moment, and the reason is price, price, price. We all know this, but the studios are too concerned about how much they can gouge for to care. |

It's a hypothetical question that a home movie ever gets released the same day as it does in theaters. It will never happen because, as someone else pointed out, people will begin to charge admission to their home thearter. If I pay $100 for a movie, that's what I will be temped to do to get back some of my $$$.

100$ is a bit too steep (so I voted no), but if it is a real good movie and there is something more with it, then maybe (hey I spent 80$ -or was it 90- for blade runner so what is 10-20 more) but there needs to be some extra gimmick. If not, then 50$ will most likely be my limit

Gee, some threads!
Aren't we already *****ing about Fox titles being too costly right now? Blu-ray titles selling for $35, $39, or more? And you would be willing to pay $100 just because you cannot wait a couple of months? That's all it really boil down to, a few months. For example: Rambo came out in late January and in late May it will be available. Think of all the Blu-rays I could buy with the money I saved because I COULD WAIT a few months!!! Let's see: $100 - $22.95 (or so on Amazon). that equals to $77.05. That adds up to about 4 or 5 Blu-rays. Do not give the studios any more dumb ideas like this. Aggggh!!! Rich kids, you gotta love them (I guess). Last edited by coachD; 05-06-2008 at 02:43 AM. Reason: spelling |

Logic gets the upper hand as in a room of sleeping people: The statement is true if and only if everyone is asleep. If just one persone is awake, the statement is negated to false. So this 'odd little film - bubble' burst my bubble. lol. But I think most movies will not release D&D. ![]() Last edited by U4K61; 02-18-2009 at 03:37 PM. |
