its rumored Kevin McKidd, who played Vorenus in Rome, will play the part of Thor. if this is true i think he would do a good job.

Not sure who Kevin McKidd is, but whoever plays Thor would benefit from some kind of Shakespearean background, if you've ever read Thor's dialog (that's how I interpret it...Nordic, but very 'grand').
Last I saw, someone had read the script for the Thor movie, and said it was "off the charts cool", BUT, to do everything the script called for would require about a $400 million budget, and the studio caps at $200 million. So, they're probably hoping for some big hits coming up to help fund it, which will fund the next one, until they get to The Avengers.
Oh, and Thor will debut in Iron Man 2.

If I was directing, my top three choices to consider (I'd have to see them audition of course) would be:

#1. Russell Crowe (just great in everything he does)
#2. Val Kilmer (amazing actor that could pull it off if he got into shape)
#3. Dwayne Johnson (hey, Thor isn't the brightest character... so typecast the part)

Actually, Thor is very intelligent, and one of the most powerful/feared heroes in the Marvel universe.

As a kid, Iron Man and Thor were my favorite 2 comic characters! After seeing the Iron Man movie and hearing of a Thor movie being made, it's like a dream come true!!

That's who immediately came to my mind as well. I think he'd be fantastic in that role, and to me, he certainly looks the part. As to whether he could pull it off? That remains to be seen, but I would give him my vote of confidence.
