Could you imagine Ridley Scotts "Alien" shot for a lower classification???

There's one thinng for sure... His career would probably not have taken off like it did, and there would probably only be one Alien Movie... a somewhat obscure sci-fi movie from the late '70's.

Why can't adults have movies made for adults... why does every bl00dy thing have to be kid friendly

Because Alien was made for $11 million, Approx $31 million in today's dollars.

Any project like Alien today would be made for $50-60 million, and that's before marketing costs (at least half again). The sheer investment. An R rated movie with rare exception only pulls in $40-50 million

Alien in my mind was a PG-13 movie anyway. What was there was mostly in shadow, and the chest burster is so short it shouldn't bother anyone that much. Other than the chest burster I'd give it a PG

I also highly recommend "This Film is Not Yet Rated" to anyone trying to understand US movie ratings

So here is a question for anyone who would like to answer it. When did movies become solely about making money? Is there no artistic integrity anymore? Good thing we have the Frank Miller, Tarantino and the Coen brothers in Hollywood otherwise nothing would R anymore. I know studios invest so much money into movies that they really press the directors to keep it family friendly but with overseas and DVD sales I would think the US box office is not as important. Image if the 1st Terminator would have been PG 13, the movie would have sucked and we wouldn’t even be talking about a 4th movie. I honestly think Hollywood has run out of ideas and will keep making sequels and remakes because they have nothing else better. Kind of sad if you ask me, because while I still enjoy movies of today the older ones are far superior in ideas and stories. They just don’t have the technology that movies of today have.

I really don’t know too much about this McG guy but from what everyone says he sucks. Not sure why they picked him to be the new director, is he a big sci-fi guy? I wish JC would come back to write and direct but that will not happen. Oh well another great franchised ruined by Hollywood.

don't worry the blu release will be an unrated version, I am sure, either that, or they will release the theatrical version, and then re-release it to double dip.
