Rent it first.
I felt the same way with National Treasure....i haven't seen either of them... but the people here convinced me i'm better off renting than wasting $40.00 on some movies i may not like. And trust me...even with a $5.00 coup your better off waiting...the price will come down eventually... |

I'd say buy it. It was a great movie imo. If you want to go on the safe side rent it 1st, then decide.

Yeah, plus, don't forget the upcoming holiday season this year. I anticipate there are going to be tons of sales and promotions to really push Blu-Ray to the public. For almost any movie, unless you can get it for $15 or less, it will most likely be on sale by the end of this year. Don't forget the BOGOs and B2G1s.

I would buy it at amazon.com they are the cheapest. But if you are going to bent out of shape over loosing 25.00 then rent it and decide later...

Movie will not see the light of day in my house not even as a rental. It is sad that everytime I turn around someone is bashing the church. I would like to see Hollywood make a movie like this about the Muslim religion world was 3 would be declared. Last edited by Barnum; 05-06-2008 at 12:42 AM. |

I bought it, but that's because we liked it at the movies. But if you haven't seen it or read the books, rent it first.
Or, if you just want to tick off your religious friends, buy it. ![]() |

Yeah the book as well as the film never says anything bad about spirituality or Christianity, it criticism the institution of orgainized foundamentalism. Doesn't matter whether it is here in the US or the Middle East, crazy foundamentists are bad.

I'd advise renting it. Folks I viewed it with in the theater didn't really liked it to the point of replay value or wanting to see any future movies released.
Buying movies IMHO is all about replay value which offers none at least to us with this one. |

I'm not trying to cause a fight here, and I respect your beliefs, your right to them, and your decision based on your faith to not purchase a film adaptation based on a book written by an atheist. However, I'd hope that you agree to the fact that atheists have just as much right as anyone else to express themselves artistically (as do muslims for that matter). The topic of this thread is in regards to the quality of the movie in general and on Blu-ray, not the religious or anti-religious sentiments of the source material or even that of this adaptation. I believe there is a thread for that sort of discussion on here already. Now, to answer the question at hand. I bought this one blind, watched it, and have never read the book. I found it to be less than great. Not a bad movie by any stretch, but stacked up against Narnia (doesn't even come close to LOTR or the last three HPs), Narnia wins hands down in my book. Still it's not terrible and I don't completely regret buying it, but I kinda wish I had rented it first. Picture and sound quality is great though. |

Great post!!! I am a Christian, but, I am surprised how blindly some people can be lead around....sheeple comes to mind... if believers think that Christianity and/or Catholicism haven't been warped by mans view of what the religion should be over the last 1800 years, then they are sadly mistaken... its about Jesus, pure and simple...read his stories and you will see that it boils down to how you treat your fellow man and live your life...its not about judging... but, thats it...I'm not getting into it any further.. Love everyone!! Open your heart! Listen to Bob Marley!! ![]() |
