here's a case for you: game types. i bought my PS3 for a couple reasons. the fact it's a sony product was part of it...i've been loyal to sony since the PS1 and i've always liked what they've done. the fact it was a bluray player also had a part in it, but minimal at the time as i didn't have an HDTV. bluetooth controllers actually were a decent part due to having issues with other wireless crap in my apt and the 360 controllers my buddy had always were screwin up due to all the cross-talk. but here's the single biggest reason i bought the ps3 over the 360...game types. i'm NOT a console fps player. sports games are fun to me for a while, but never really hold my interest. RPGs, sandbox, driving games...those types of games are the ones that really get my interest. playstation has always had a historically more diverse game base then xbox. yes, hold the argument of "what about blue dragon?" or the other games that have RECENTLY come out. microsoft, for some reason, has only very recently started branching out to new game types. typically the games for xbox are still sports games or fps.

the game diversity for me was the monkeywrench in the xbox gears. i dare say a large portion of the other ps3 owners are more diverse in their game type preferences then the majority of your 360 owners. i can just see this being a much more influential part of the process then a lot of ppl give it credit. i know it was for me.

I think both Nintendo and Sony went about expanding their markets in different ways .. and your comment is a reflection of Sony's. Just like people on here say they only use it for one or the other .. other people have commented they have started getting back into gaming or they bought it for games and got hooked on movies.
