If MPI wants to release something good on BLu RAY They should RELEASE BECKETT! It just came out restored on standard DVD a couple years back. They should Release BECKETT. I would buy that if done right.

I remember watching these when I was just a lad
Yes, actually that scene was quite disturbing. Real or not.

This is one of the coolest announcements to BD so far, IMHO. I had fun watching these as a teen. They're silly at times, but still entertaining if you're in the right mood.

Count me as someone who wants to see stuff on BD beyond just f/x spectacles and movie-of-the-week. Bring on more cult films like this. Hell, this will be the first release of FACE OF DEATH since VHS.

By the way, I really hope Code Red DVD starts releasing in BD (it's rumored on www.deadpit.com that they want to. Would love to see SAVAGE STREETS, HOT MOVES and THE UNSEEN in BD.

peace out.

My copy arrived from Amazon today, and I checked it out.

Picture/sound quality is barely better than the DVD.

There are 2 documentaries, one with the editor, the other with the special effects team. Both documentaries confirm that approximately half the film was made up of reenactments.

I could have told you that just from the age of the video and content. Most of that stuff came from VHS or Beta video tape. Perhaps SOME from traditional film which apparently was not transferred to HD.

This is horse meat packaged as dog food, plain and simple. Exploiting the death of victims for profit is more disgusting than the images.

i thought it was common knowledge that it was only about half real.

i gotta say tho, i'm deeply concerned with the people who enjoyed this stuff and are excited for the blu-ray. its obviously not all real, but there ARE real deaths. creepy

Me too, I remember watching the VHS tapes as a teen, and figuring out with my brother via pause & slo-mo that most of the deaths were fake (except for the animal stuff). The magician who gets crushed in the face by the spike ball - replaced by an obvious dummy at the last second. The suicide jumper - cut to a dummy crashing to the pavement. I might have considered this set 20 years ago, but now I have no desire to watch FoD ever again.

Thumbs down

I can think of no good reason for somebody to buy this. Even when I was a teenage boy I didn't like these. I would actually understand someone buying Hostel or Saw if they want to see violence. This release reaffirms the fact that ultra-violent films are the new porn of the 21st century.
And to those who would argue that FoD is harmless because much of it isn't real, it doesn't matter. This is still an exploitation film of the worst kind. In the end, it is a shallow mind that can classify this as "entertainment."

When you're adding Dogslyf to the "harshly judgmental" list, please mark me down on the "shallow mind" list.

...to each their own, I say.

I use to own all of them on vhs. It was good for its time but c'mon for blu-ray? What a waste.

How many people have actually bought this?

By the way, I don't understand how can they create a 5.1 audio track for this... it must be as fake as some of the scenes.

I picked it up today, however, I probably will never watch it. I remember seeing scenes from it when I was in high school, but it was never my thing.

I bought it more for the irony - it seems like a ridiculous release. Now whenever someone peruses my collection, I can say: "Because I prefer my death in High Definition."

Hmm, it does not tell you which bits are real and which are not. You could misunderstand half of it.

I'd have to say that, since the Faces of Death series has been a popular home video phenomenon since the '80s, this release doesn't reaffirm anything being "new" or "21st century," vis-à-vis ultraviolence.

The most disturbing was the Satanist group who devoured a body and had bloody orgies. They stopped short of showing even more. Disgusting. So sorry for the spoilers, people.

This is definately a MUST NOT SEE.
From what I understand, a lot of this stuff was faked and it was brought out years after the movies were released. In fact, it has been documented that the so-called flesh-eating cult has one of it's staff, John Alan Schwartz (who is also credited as the "Conan le Cilaire" as the director, "Alan Black" for writing, and as "Johnny Getyerkokov" for 2nd unit directing) appearing as one of the so-called cult, flesh eaters. Pretty sad.

I mean, I know the animal killings weren't fake and a lot of the news real accidents and such were real0, but this was nothing more than another "shock" movie - period. It has no morals and look at the narrator - fake beard and his name - Dr. Francis B. Gross (be gross anyone?) Yet, he talks about wanting to explore the meaning of death and goes so far as to say, during the animal slaughter scene replete with a family eating fried chicken like a pack of ravenous dogs, that this was enough to put him off eating meat. Hmm. Pre-PETA possibly?

Poorly done movies that were meant to shock you and that's it - and even then, they weren't that shocking. Actually, they bored me to tears.
