Beta, seriously calm down! Car audio isn't necessarily for young kids. Well, actually it is, but, people make professions out of car audio. Let's not talk about people's intelligence either. Nobody should be here if they're going to torment or pick on others.

Blu Haze, you might also want to invest in some sound dampening materials. This will keep sound from leaking through doors, roof, floor, trunk etc

Dynamat is one particular brand to think about...although id look to ebay for the stuff.

Definitely get some for the license plate, you don't wanna be one of those guys that has the plate rattling down the street, its embaracing.

Blu Haze, try going to www.crutchfield.com. They may have a special sub enclosure for your Infinity QX4.

Thanks Crack... Does anyone have anything to say about Pioneer or Sony Xplod subs? There cheaper. Fi are expensive.

Thanks,
Sam

I wouldn't go with either, particularly the Sony's.

A couple of these hooked up to one of these would do quite well.

Yea what size would you get? I dont know if 18s would fit in the back but then there no room when movin stuff...

And what else would be on par with those subs for less money of course.. That crazy sub guy has all Fi. meade or w.e his name isl.

Hmm there are other Fi models are they comparable? A LOT less $$$$$

Man, consider this sub. Just look at it.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...arch=jl&tp=111

If that is to pricey, the W3 is a great middle of the road sub. I used to have two twelves, they are LOUD and clean.

Fi has 12" models and 15" models too. You might want to check those out.

I had a pair of W6's in my jeep cherokee and man they hit HARD.

Was only supplying 300 RMS to each, which for competition is nothing, but just to go down the street was sweet enough for me!

...oh and definitely get stiffening capacitors as mentioned earlier to keep the power stable.

My amp used to eat MTX subs until my warranty expired, I could push the JL subs as hard as I wanted too though.

Sorry.... had a BAD day.... no offense Blu-Haze.....

Back on topic though, you don't seem to clear on what your "goal" for the system will be....

Blu-Haze:

If you want some serious car audio products, look no further than Diamond Audio. They aren't the cheapest, but can be found substantially discounted online. I have had them in my cars ever since I was 16, so for almost 8 years and 3 different cars. The component sets with the full crossover (M6 and Hex series) and aluminum dome tweeters are exceptional.

Diamond is also found in very high end home theater. Von Schweikert uses only Diamond woofers in their new lineup, some have multiple Diamond woofers. Example:
These are $75,000!!!!
And I know you are a bass-head so you won't be disappointed with the output either. My local Diamond shop held a car audio competition where the winner(for a single speaker) hit 151dB with a single Diamond 12" Hex. The overall winner hit over 164dB with 8 Diamond subs and it was easily the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard or felt. The pannels of his 4-runner were flexing a good 2-3 inches.

I have moved on to home audio as there is only so much you can do to prevent road noise, which drowns out fine detail and nuances that high-dollar speakers can provide. But you shouldn't look at anything other than Diamond, except maaaybe Eclipse or Elemental Designs for the sub. For goodness sakes, don't get Rockford, Sony, or Alpine!!!!

BTW - I have found the 12" D6 subwoofer pictured above for about $165.

if you can spare a little more you could do a very nice McIntosh set up depending on where you shop for between 4500-7500

decent equipment should safe-guard against that..... you should get an amp that's appropriate for the speakers, and shouldn't have to worry about over-pushing them.

Fi speakers wouldn't get blown. If they got blown, chances are your eardrums are too.

Ok.. i see.. Why are the JL so much... i think Fi seem to be some of the best. What is the difference bettweeen the sizes of the sub? And if it has 2000 RMS then what is its total.
