you're missing out then! sit through them all.. the third one (escape) i find kind of comical and of course the fourth one (conquest) has the timeless speech/battle cry from caesar "And that day is upon you NOW!"

Well if it is only sold as a set, I'll have little choice but to watch them all...

Awesome, awesome news. Wondering what kinds of features they'll have in store, as I already thought the documentary on the bonus disc of the DVD set was one of the best docs on a movie I've seen.

Will definitely be picking all five of these up. PLANET OF THE APES is such a fascinating franchise in that the overall story is such a Mobius strip. I can't think of any other series of films that starts in the future, has two characters travel into the past and end up creating their future, but ends up creating an alternate timeline.

Also, whereas each sequel in a film series gets more expensive, I think PLANET OF THE APES is the only film series where each sequel gets cheaper and cheaper, which is odd given the scope of the later films.

And I think the unrated APES movie will be CONQUEST. In the doc, they talk about how the ending of the film was much darker with Caesar's speech and the apes just beating the shit out of their former captors. But I think because it either tested badly or the studio didn't want to film to start riots, they changed it to be a tiny bit more upbeat, which is why the last bit of Caesar's speech is a voice over of an extreme close up of Caesar's eyes.

I have never seen all these movies - just bits and pieces.

If the price is right I may just do a blind buy on this classic.

Note: At press time Caesar with his individual Conquest isn't showing up yet in pre-order. Pre-order will be added when it does.

I will be pre-ordering all 5 individually. Thank you Fox for realizing that many of us prefer uniformity to our collections. Though the box set is sure to be a nice package, I prefer my discs individually housed in keepcases.

Good news. Hopefully other studios take notice.

The individual discs have a list price of $34.99. I'm stunned. Fox is actually lowering prices.

Yes, catalog prices have now been lowered, which is fantastic. I am so happy Fox chose to release these individually as well, much preferred for me at least.
