The Happening rent or buy - Page 4 - Blu-ray Forum

Rent before purchasing. I would never recommend a blind buy; it's just a bad technique. Why spend $25 on something you might feel indifferent toward or even hate? The Happening is a peculiar film. I saw it in theaters opening night and liked it, and I will probably rent it soon as well, but that's not a wholesale recommendation even for a rent. Obviously, many people really dislike this film.

I am one of those people that initially listened to all the negative press about it. Made up my mind to not even watch it before it even came out. However, I was able to get a copy and watch it. The movie was really good.

Like those that have said they liked it as well - it did have it's "cheesy" parts, however the plot of the movie is pretty interesting. People can't get past that and the fact that "something like that could NEVER happen". Anything is possible.

I like this film more than I liked Lady In The Water <--- an abomination of a film. Sixth Sense, The Village are the only others I like. There might be another but I can't remember the name. The Signs. Yeah.

If you are going to buy, buy used If you have never seen the film, please don't base your decision on what people here say - make your own decision. Rent it. What's 3 bux to rent a blu and make your own informed choice?

RENT, I did not like it and would not purchase it myself. Hope you like it better than I did.

Yeah, that was why I got it. I like his other movies and the overview sounds good but the word of mouth has definitely been negative. Oh well, off to watch it now...

I got it yesterday early from Tower. I found the video to be 3.5/5...it looked good but nothing exceptional. The audio 4/5. The movie will be hit or miss with a lot of people. I liked it. It kept me entertained thru-out. I like M. Night's movies...I don't expect much going into them...and if I pay attention thru the movie....most likely I'll like it. This one I liked...others won't...it is literally hit or miss.

Pretty much the exact same. The PQ is odd on this one as he gave the film kind of an off look color wise.

But I should say I'm a huge M. Night fan. I love all of his other films. This one I was only "meh" on so that should tell you something right there.

This movie was really good? Really? I can't believe I read that. Something happens and then it just stops...for no reason...it's just over. Then, the movie ends. There was no plot or anything at all. It was like reading the forward to a book and then just putting it down.

i enjoyed this movie. it was very engaging throughout. i good amount of people will hate it though. it's one of those movies you enjoy more after a good discussion.

What do you mean it was "just over". It started, and finished. Not everything was spelled out, however all the pieces were there to figure it out. If you go into this film expecting a super duper thriller - your not going to find it. It's not your "average" I wanna be be stupified movie. You kinda actually have to think.

Thats just my view. Again, most don't like it. I thought it was good.
