Smile Do you rent or buy?

I was sitting here earlier today and came to realize that I have not rented a movie in probably 6 years. I used to rent back when i used to buy DVD's, but now that i have been an avid blu-ray owner for over 3 years i have come to realize that i never rent blu-rays. I wanted to ask everyone what they usually prefer. I usually blind buy instead of renting, which i know is not the smartest thing to do

I never rent anything. I used to "rent" from the internet, but for the most part I just buy everything I want.

I rented a movie for the first time since I think 2003, it just seemed time. I blind buy WAY too much, this will be a better screening process.

I rent and buy, at $17/month it saves me from blind buying a junk movie and we typically go through 12-14 movies a month in the mail plus we get Netflix streaming into the 2500 to take a quick peek at movies or watch The Office in high def. Great way to screen something at a low cost before you buy something.

I most rent, in fact i think i rent close to 200 blu-ray and buy about 21 so far. Blu-ray are still pricey especially newer release, i brought them when is on sales for a good price, i usually own movie that in good transfer no point buy a blu-ray that is half done transfer since is not really step over a dvd.

Use netflix if you wanted best and fastest service for disk delivery, while block buster is more for value but expect much slower turn over time and hard to get new release if you didn't put their in your top quote for the first few days.

damn thats a lot of renting lol...i just feel its a waste of money to rent and then give back, i prefer to spend the extra money and own it. just my personal way of thinking lol

I'd say 70% buy movies, 30% rentals on Netflix.

I do both. I buy stuff I've seen before and like. Stuff I didn't get a chance to see before I will rent. Most of my netflixing is tv shows and anime though. I go through about 10 DVD/Blu Rays a week through netflix plus streaming through my 360 and PC

I tend to buy mostly, particularly if it is a movie I already know I like or blind buys I'm confident I will enjoy. Nearly 300 DVD and Blu-rays later and there are only a handful of the blind buys on my shelf that I don't like (most infamously for me was Crash).

I rent using Netflix and I tend to use that to watch movies I'm not as sure about.

Being a teen, I dont usually have the money for most blurays and when I do I spend them on games and stuff. I mostly rent, but when a movie comes that I like, I either rent it first (like The Dark Knight) or just buy the thing and hope for a good movie (Watchmen Director's Cut)

I mostly rent from Netfilx and just buy movies I really like, I very rarely blind buy. I know one thing for sure this October is going to hurt my wallet.

I only buy, but then renting isn't really an option here.

I buy around 85% of the time, Only reason I rent is if I am really really unsure about it, like Watchmen, I am so glad I didn't blind buy it.

I have never rented, unless you consider netflix (streaming to my XBOX360) renting. I have quite a few blind buys and I have only been burned about 4-5 times.

I usually rent a couple of movies every weekend. The only movies I buy are the ones I would watch over and over again. I have far too many DVDs sitting in my cabinet that I haven't watched in ages, and don't intend to watch; I don't plan on repeating the process with my Blu-Rays.

My answer is the same from this exact same thread 2 months ago: rent and buy, depending.
