Is there some sort of chicken sacrifice involved to loading a BD in one, or is it like any other player where you drop the disc and close the drawer? This clown sounds like a true Rocket Scientist! ![]() |

I don't think the price is that bad for bd. How much where dvds upon release?? The only friends I have w/ blu are the ones w/ ps3. I have a brother and a lot of friends who want bd but dont want to spend $200 for a player. any one w/ a brain can see the difference and I have a feeling alot of my friends will be getting bd w/ the next year or less. Prices are going to drop

the Sad truth of the matter is to most of the things i has read on the internet and heard people say about Blu-Ray is:
Anti- Blu-Ray talking point's Blu-Ray= Sony which also means SONY+DRM = BAD Even if they have not even try'ed out any Blu-Ray at all. they still tout "dvd is good enough" they wanted Blu-Ray to fail, because they think "SONY" is cramming the format down their consumer's throats. and Blu-Ray is not needed. But HD DVD, Since it has "DVD" in its name that it is already a standard, and that "SONY" is trying to make yet another format a Standard when their is no NEED for another Because DVD is enough. its not finished format, the format is not reliable, has low speed. the facts are is : All "as far as i know" ![]() next Blu-Ray is not Just a Sony format, so take Their Opinion for what ever its worth... ![]() not finished,,what ever format is...hell even DVD as a format is not finished yet ..ask Toshiba if DVD's evolution is finished... ![]() the blunt truth of the matter is there are people, corperations ,media that do not want Blu-Ray to succeed for what ever their reason. but the Fact of the matter Blu-Ray has succeeded already. even with all of the negative doom sayers, its a format thats just an Evolution of the CD format. its had its trials long ago before this "So called format war" if you could call it one. ![]() CD DVD Blu-Ray because Blu-Ray is also used for SOFTWARE just like The CD format, just like the DVD format. Laser disc is not used for SOFTWARE, VHS IS NOT USED FOR SOFTWARE,BETAMAX IS NOT USED FOR SOFTWARE. Notice any format that has not been used for SOFTWARE has been pretty much discontinued. thats a big point. ![]() |

There is definitely a certain element within the so-called tech media that is trying to do a hit job on Blu-ray. A few of these writers must former HD DVD supporters, but I can't help but think it's because of Microsoft playing a role where they are trying to undermind the population's confidence in Blu-ray to set up downloading.

Disc formats have been the cheaper way for data back up for quite a while, and for the future that may take a while for that to change. So No matter what Since Blu-Ray is a disc based format it still has a use. and since its also used for Software its more of a viable use, in the electronics industry. bluray is basically following the same trend as dvds.......it's being used for video games (as dvd was over cartridges/cds), greater storage (as dvd was over cd), and obviously movies (as dvd was over vhs). methinks it is doing a fine job breaking into the industry.

"HD-DVD players were sold {at a massive loss} for $100, why can't Blu-Ray players be sold for that amount too?" this is not meant to offend the OP, but my thoughts on this are ..."so what?"
do we really have to flock to every blog or article that suggests that Blu-ray is dead?... just ignore it....I read the title of this thread and how many pages it had and I was like wow....we should be past this by now... just my take anyways.. |

a product does not have to become "mass market" to be a resounding success. frankly, laserdisc was a very successful product that offered a wide range of titles at the best quality available for many, many years. i wouldn't mind at all if Blu-ray is the next laserdisc.

With Blu-Ray the new high-resolution winner, who knows whether those titles will ever be released on DVD and I would figure the more obscure titles not released on DVD would have a lower probability to be released on Blu-Ray. Laserdisc was a format that survived for almost two decades. The last North Americna title released was brining out the dead in Oct 2000 and the Japanese released LDs up until 2001. It's quite a niche market online with many collectors. I'll stop mentioning laserdisc for a second and just bring up the point that I still see people picking up VHS tapes at thrift stores for heaven's sake. I'm sure I'm not the onlyone who've seen this. ![]() |
