What boxset? They are being re-released individually on DVD. Blu-Ray will be the same way.

I know the whole PAL thing means nothing when it comes to the actual movie but I've heard with he PS3 there might be other issues with playback on the PS3? I can't remember where I read it but I've heard about issues displaying the menu? As long as I can get it to start the movie playing I don't care about the menu (or special features) but is this an actual issue?
The disc should play the movie fine.
I have the import of ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE and the menu comes up and you can play the film since it's in HD. The extras were not converted from HD and were the basic PAL SD port-overs and will not come up.

While there are some extras ported to FRIDAY 2 & 3 from the old box set, there are some new features that were shot in HD (much like the region A BLURAY of part 1) and I would think these will play fine if also in HD. I have the extras disc from the box set so I could care less about the older interviews where not that great anyways. However, if Paramount's UK arm got lazy and just did a standard def transfer these might not come up.

I've heard a lot of bulls*it from people who "know someone who knows somone who has these discs" but there had not been a definitive review or actual person to step up on the forums to comment yet.

Mine is on the way and I will report back!

Ive had these since the 4th (swedish versions), i havnt watched either of them, but i did a fast PQ check on both. Part 2 looks good, but part 3 looks like shit, lots sof grain dirt etc, i bet the region 1 sd dvd looks better than this.

Have you checked the featurettes? Are any of them in HD?
I would expect the 3rd film to be a bit problematic since it is a transfer of a film originally shot in 3-D and the negative always comes across soft and lacking (although I would assume better than the DVD counterpart). The new DVD's sound is a significant improvement over the older versions. I would not expect the eventual region A release to look any different. There is talk of a delay on this in the US until next year to get it out in a better 3D format but take that with a grain of salt.

Can you comment on whether or not 2 and 3 are region locked? Would the Swedish versions be different than the UK editions from Paramount? I would assume even though they're Swedish releases they would still be done by Paramount?

I wouldnt know if they are region locked or not, as i am swedish and have a region B ps3. But yes they are released by Paramount over here too, i would be very surprised if they were locked.

Received parts 2 & 3 today from Play.com, Part 2 looks great very vibrant, strong colours, Part 3 looks about the same as the new Region 1 dvd release which I also have, Prob a little bit sharper. Will go and take a look at the extras now.

I'm guessing no 3-D on part 3 then?
