I just saw the first Godfather. Holy canole, that was amazing. And it looks fantastic =].

I'm getting American Gangster for Christmas. I liked the movie but some parts could have been better. I'm hoping the second time I see it I'll enjoy it more.

if it qualifies, i don't know that it could be classified as a full blown mobster movie.

but Lucky # Slevin is pretty awesome.

Many good suggestions here. It's redundant, but to reinforce your choices here's my list :

1) Godfather collection ~ the granddaddy of the genre
2) The Departed ~ some very great twists in this film
3) Lucky # Slevin ~ not your traditional mob film, but a great film all the same; it has some good twists and a sense of humor. Lucy Liu puts in a fantastic performance as the crazy, lovable neighbor (I wouldn't mind having her for a neighbor Watching the extras, I learned this film was a labor of love by the cast. The all star (Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, etc.) cast appeared in this film on minimal salaries to keep the film under budget.
4) Goodfellas ~ great character study and a look at the "new" mob versus traditional values. I kind of felt sorry for the older gents and their betrayal.

The Departed
American Gangster
Casino
Goodfellas
The Untouchables

Are all some of my favorites. I don't have all of them on Blu yet but plan to pick them up eventually.

As for Eastern Promises, I was really disappointed. I thought it was just ok, may want to rent it first.

I just finally watched my Goodfellas BD last night, which I bought about a year ago. Though I've seen it so many times, I knew I would eventually watch it on blu if I would buy it.

The video transfer looked pretty good. Audio is only Dolby Digital 5.1. It is my favorite mob flick.
