Default My own two cents

The very first hdtv I EVER bought (I capped ever b/c I was tremendously excited) was a Samsung HL-S5088S. The 1st one I got I was able to watch one movie, then play motorstorm on it for about a total of 4 hrs till I finally had to crash. Next day I get home and the TV goes on for about 45 secs then off with lights flashing on the front. After a few calls and a service visit the tech wants to replace the motherboard and whatnot, I said absolutely not, back in the box. Sammi's track record is pretty good, so I figure try again. They send me a brand new one, this one doesn't even pretend it's gonna work, nothing, out of the box. Long story short, I now have a beautiful Sony KDS-50A2020 which I thoroughly enjoy with my PS3

From what I've heard, the laser dlp displays are actually quite vivid in their picture, even when compared to other techs. Using band-pass filters can lower noise levels, if you're talking about purity of wavelength.

I have to say i`m verry happy with my samsung 5087! I hear all the talk about the different tv`s and when i looked into tv`s to buy, the dlp from samsung looked way better than most other tv`s in the same price range, I just can`t seem to pay more than 3,000.00 for a television? my tele does not have the "rainbow" effect and the blacks are "black". I would put this tv up aginst most that are out there today. the led dlp`s just dont have the color right just yet, thats what kept me away, even the price. anyway it`s just my opinion, I`m not trying to tick anyone off. and i hope the universal thing is true!

DLP and SXRD sets have asses that are too big. It's high time indeed for their assess to be sliced-off.

Good thing to hear though that Laser TV (demonstrated by Sony at CES 2007) is working to actually allow RP TV sets to be closer to flat panel TV sets in thinness.

Still far though but at least it's a start.

15 to 19" is too big for up to 73" of screen? I think I will have to disagree on that one. Smaller is nice, but I don't think 15 to 19" is too deep.

JVC will be debuting two LCoS TVs this year that can be mounted on a wall. The 58" version is only 10" deep.

Does KDS-R70SXRB2 have 120hz or 24 input modes? I've been buying new a TV pertty much every year lately, and I wanna slow down on that. So, the plan is to get TV that has 1080p, somewhere 67-70" screen size and accepts 24fps from BD players. That I can have it for few years I hope. But for now I can't really find anything like that under 10k that is
Actually I've found this and not very promising for now

No all Sony SXRD rear projectors are 60HZ with current models having only a 1080P/60 input.
Currently the only Sony that is available for sale with a 1080P/24 input and refreshes at 96HZ is the VPL-VW50 Front Projector. Hopefully Sony in September 2007 or September 2008 will introduce new models of SXRD rear projectors that will support 1080P/24 input with refresh rates of 96HZ or 120HZ. I would also like to see Sony improve the contrast ratio of the SXRD front and rear projectors to 20:000:1 or better.
I am thinking about purchasing the Pioneer PRO-150FD 60 inch Plasma in September that is rumored to have at the very minimum a 20:000:1 contrast ratio. Hopefully Sony will improve on the SXRD contrast ratios this year or I might be getting a Pioneer instead. With the Pioneer’s awesome contrast ratio I will take my chances with possible burn in issues. The risk is worth it.

The KDSR70XBR2 does not have a 1080p/24 mode, but it will accept a 1080p/24 signal. After speaking with a Sony engineer in San Deigo, I found out a thing or two. If you input a 1080p/24 signal into this unit, it will basically do the same thing a 1080p/60 Blu-ray player will do to the 1080p/24 content on a BD. It will do 2:3 pulldown and display the picture.
