Um, if they turn out to be some of the best films of any given year, why not?

Another Side Note: Both Gus Van Sant and Darren Aronofsky got snubbed this year for the director category as well.

It's good to see Richard Jenkins get a nomination for his role in 'The Visitor'. That's definitely my pick. I don't know about RDJ in 'Tropic Thunder'. That was a little surprising. I would even put Liev Schreiber in 'Defiance' over RDJ's performance in 'Tropic Thunder'. Albeit, RDJ in 'Tropic Thunder' was hilarious. Also, good to see 'In Bruges' got at least one nomination. Too bad Clint Eastwood didn't get one. I thought for sure he'd get a nomination for director, oh well.

That's too bad. It won a number of awards across the country for Best Foreign Language Film, including The Boston and Chicago film critics awards.

I'm glad Benjamin Button got nominated. I loved every second of it.

If anything, it should win Achievement in makeup..

I just read that the Oscars pretty much snubbed Batman Dark Knight. Whats the deal with that? Is that really true? If they did it was bogus because it was the best since the first Batman with Michael Keaton in my book.

Why would they watch? I am sure MTV is playing something fabulous at the same hour.

I wouldn't call 8 nominations a snub. I will however say TDK got screwed in a few areas. One, an idiotic technicality regarding the number of composers caused one of the best scores in years to be disqualified. Second, TDK was epic, there's no denying that. Not just any director can handle it, I think Nolan deserved that one. Third, I can already tell you that Benjamin Gump(I stole that from the SHH! boards, it's funny) is going to steal a lot of TDK's Oscars. Deservedly? That movie was beyond boring, the only people who deserve Oscars for that are the people who sat through the damn near 3 hours of it.

The disqualification was reversed. It just didn't make get nominated.
Alert: The Academy reverses itself on "Dark Knight" score

I don't even know you could justify this statement, especially given the noms they got were in sound/makeup categories. Achievement in film includes all film, you know.

I wouldn't go that far. I have a feeling that it got a lot of nominations but it's not going to take very many home. Just a hunch.

Well, then that's just downright horse honkey! There wasn't one crapping, so I just picked the one with the horse anyways.
