Oops, good catch. I did mean the C/L/R 2500. I can't hardly find anybody that has 7002's. Everybody has 7004's or 7006's.
This question could be for Big Daddy or whomever has experience or knowledge on this.......how much better do the bp7002,7004,etc. sound than say the bp8b or bp10b since they have built in subs? Would they be about the same if I went with like the bp8b and since it has no built in sub got a sub from like svs. I would probably end up getting a sub no matter what anyway so don't really know if I would need the built in subs in the speakers.
Also, are the ones with four 5.25 drivers alot better than the ones with only two 5.25 drivers?

I think you need to go and listen to them yourself at that point. It's nice that BB's Magnolia area carries a few of the Def Tech for listening. I got to compare the 700x series to the BP8's and then went to another store for the BP6 listening. Personally, I felt like it was a little overkill, but I would think it would be a snap to tune the extra bass into your system and get really good (but not overpowering) bass response.

The Def Tech BP 7000 series speakers are all excellent and much better than the other BP series. However, they cost more and you need a bigger room. If you have the room and the money, get the BP 7002 or BP 7000. You definitely can hear the difference. If your budget is limited and your room is small, you will be more than satisifed with any of the BP speakers.

Currently looking at a pair of BP6 towers and a CLR 2002 center channel on ebay. Both auctions are suprisingly cheap right now, both with about a day left.. My question is, does the 2002 timbre match the BP6's?

Secondly, DAMN YOU ARAMIS!! I find myself drooling looking at your newly upgraded gallery! Oh well, at least i've gotten aproval from the fiance' to buy some new speakers for our basement HT setup!

Sounds like we have the same front configuration. I also have a pair of BP2x for the sides and added a set of ProMonitor100MKII for the rear surrounds. Overall I am very happy with my DefTech setup.

Too bad they no longer make the CLR2000. It's equiped with the same 6.5" driver of many of their larger speakers.

LOL. Yes, the BP6's and the 2002 are timbre matched. They're actually very well-matched in that panning is seamless. I was surprised at the difference in panning compared to my old Polk Monitors. I've been meaning to update my gallery with the BP2x's I have, but I still have some more work to do. Wish I could wall-mount, but it's just not feasible for us.

Anyway, I've been watching the CLR2002's for awhile on ebay- they go for between $275 and $350 after shipping usually. The BP6b's can be had for $459 shipped from a couple people that are selling them new. Problem with that is there's no warranty. I'm willing to do that to save say, 100-200 bucks, but with the towers and surrounds I went with an authorized dealer for the warranty. Check out 6ave.com as they're an authorized dealer.

Finally- don't get 'em just cuz I did! Make sure you listen to them somewhere.

There is a guy selling bp2000's but he says they aren't matched, meaning that both speakers have the sub in them facing the same way instead of opposite. Would this matter?

I would think so. The thing with these towers is that they use the sub not just for LFE, but the low end as well. Supposedly, audio above 80hz is directional- meaning you can tell where it's coming from. I would think that would throw off the acoustics somewhat. Only way to really tell is to listen to them yourself, but I wouldn't buy them blindly. How did he end up with those?

I don't know how he ended with them. I assumed they probably always came in pairs, one for left and one for right. His are like two for right or two for left though since the sub in each of them is on the same side of each speaker.

I am a bit confused. What do you mean the subs are facing the same way?

I'm assuming that with the speaker facing you they're both on the right (or left) side rather than both to the inside or outside.

Big Daddy, instead of having a pair where say the left bp has its sub on the left side and a right bp has its sub on the right he has two identical. So say your left bp has the sub on the left and your right bp has its sub on the left as well.

The subwoofers are on the sides. Each pair of BP 7000 and 2000 series speakers are mirror images of each other. You can place them so that the subwoofers are facing each other or switch their position so that the subwoofers are facing away from each other. My Def Tech manual suggest to experimnt with their placement. They slightly favor placing them so that the subwoofers are facing each other, unless the speakers are very close or against a big object like one of those old and large TV's.

Hmmmm, so going by this it really doesn't matter then that they are not the same.

Quick question, I'm thinking bout getting the BP7006 towers to start with and connecting them to a Pioneer Elite VSX-01 reciever. It would only be 2 channel to start with and I'm wondering would this set-up at least give me good sound to start with? Surrounds and center would have to come later.

Get the 7004's. The midrange extension in the 5 1/4" speakers is clearly audible, otherwise it just sounds thin.

So your saying as a 2 channel setup the 7004's reproduce better midrange quality? Damn an extra $200.00 a speaker, bummer.

Big Daddy i noticed in your equipment list you have a pair of bose 901's as your rear surrounds. Iam curious of how it sounds, people tend to discourage the use of the 901 in surround systems although i had a pair once and i loved them. Now iam thinking maybe i should consider them on my rear wall as it is a very long room. Iam also saving for the DT 7001 sure id love to have the 7000's but ....I also plan to bi-amp the 7001's using my onyko tx-sr875 and the onyko m-282 2 channel amp. i also have the denon blu-ray transport only, the sony 80" screen, and epson 1080p projector black

I own a pair of 901's myself (PA Purposes) and I acutally think because of their radiation pattern, they make excellent surround speakers - if you have the room to deploy them properly.

+1

In my opinion, Bose 901 are ideal for surrounds. The way they fill a room with sound, you can use two of them as your front speakers with their stand and equalizer and forget about the other speakers (center, surround).
