Same here, I would love to add them to my collection, but for now I'll Netflix them.

Better safe then sorry is my motto before a fairly decent cash outlay. I try to be even that more cautious when I read through discussions and some flags have been raised.

You guys are crazy.

I dunno. How can you tell how good it looks or not from the screenshots? I've looked at them and they look spectacular.

I admit the first ones posted by some user were sub par but the later ones all look great.

It's your money but you either like these movies or you don't. They will look better than DVD for sure...

I will not spend the money until I see TRUSTED reviews. Price is good, and will stay that way for awhile, long enough to get a clear verdict.

Yes, I like these movies, but I won't buy a sub-par version just to wait for a double dip. I, for one, am very happy I didn't start buying ST:TOS until now...

Yep! Are we suppose to buy each and every BD because we like the movie?

It is a foregone conclusion that most beat the SD DVD but some much more so than others. Catalog titles are generally a "try before you buy" policy with most every one for me personally. I suppose it depends on each one's own experiences, how they feel in general in what has been released to date, and their own personal standards.

I'm probably easier to please than most but basically, the 2 main factors I use are, do I like the movie and is it better than what I currently have. If both are true, it's almost always a purchase.

well if anyone finds any reviews online, feel free to post them here

i really hope we get a real review from a trusted site, like blu-ray.com or highdefdigest.com or even dvdtalk.com

i was really looking forward to picking these up on tuesday without any reviews (i means its trek and they are far from barebones), but now i'm thinking i should wait

Well this has made me cancel my pre order. I was already on the fence because of the lack of Director's Editions (they do make a difference) and special features.

Now I'm thinking I'll wait till the double dip.

I agree with what you guys are saying as far as not buying until a review comes out but if that was the case why do you pre-order?

I never pre-order unless I am sure I want it no matter what is included.

I see no reason to buy these now, not without seamless branching of the original theatrical cuts and the director's cuts...you KNOW they'll be bring those out in the not too distant future. Same with the LOTR trilogy.

For the love o God stop buying! They plan on double-dipping, they make money because so many of you don't want to wait for better versions!

Take Away Their Incentive!

my rant endeth

Pre-ordering BDs = blind buying is far as I'm concerned.

One may full well know the content of the movie and like it alot but that is half of the equation and still leaves one in the dark regarding the BD audio and picture quality. Unless you knew the quality beforehand but that rarely happens since reviews aren't posted till after the trigger is pulled. And on top of that, I think there has been many cases where the price has been dropping rather quickly afterwards from other resources even though one thought the price they got was attractive to start.

Back on topic. Still waiting for reviews and more opinions but I'm still renting first.

I was just thinking today it's crazy there's no reviews out yet. There's MORE than enough to buy next week that I won't miss this set right now. I already canceled my Amazon order, as well.

are the movies themselves sub-par? i assume they're not or you wouldn't have pre-ordered to begin with. it's really about the movies anyway. and not whether the movies are a great transfer, if they're on 50g discs, if they're frame rates and bit rates are high, the type of audio it has, and so on and so forth.

that's generally how i buy a blu-ray. if i like the movie i will buy it on blu-ray. i don't really concern myself with the specs and all. if i like the movie then one would logically think i would want to have it on blu-ray. that's why i buy movies anyway. to watch the ones i like. otherwise what is the point. i say if you like these movies than it's a no brainer.

actually liking the movie is pretty much the whole equation. to me anyway. sure the quality of the transfer can factor in. but really it's only gravy. it may be some important gravy, but gravy still nonetheless.

Well obviously the movie content and me liking the story is the priority but I'm alot more careful now with the ones I'm buying regarding the quality. I see no harm whatsoever in checking the ones out I'm interested in via rental first and then deciding to pull the trigger afterwards if it meets my standards and then the price. I don't have to personally own it on release day but I do have enough resources to get what I want to watch on that day if I really want to. I stopped blind buying or preordering long ago and I just don't mean about the movie's content.

It is just the way I plan to continue to sail my ship personally going forward. And I should be able to at least take a peek at some of these before release date so long as one of my resources gets them which I'm hopeful.

that's fine. i just don't do that. personally if i like the movie and don't have it i will buy it on blu-ray. especially if i want it bad enough. it's a no-brainer. when i bought fight the future i didn't even check to see if the transfer. i went right out and bought it day of release. but again that's me.

Star trek - the motion picture looks amazing!! it's easily the best quality out of the 6 films. Wrath of khan is an above average catalogue transfer but thats about all. The worse by a long shot is star trek 6..its hideous ! barely above the dvd in my opinion. 3,4 and 5 all look nice but again not stunning..definately improved over the dvd though.

Some of the HD extras are cool and the captains table summit shot in 1080i is very good with patrick stewart, johnathan frakes, nimoy and shatner discussing together their respective expeiriences on trek.
