Thanks for the suggestions guys. Transferring all my vinyl would be a daunting task to say the least. So much so that i'm not sure i even wanna bother. ![]() So, if i understand this device correctly, you just plug the TT into it and then run that straight to your computer? |

Found another TT. The official website doesn't seem to work, so I've linked you to the Canadian/US Distributor.....This distributor also carries other lines and has retail pricing for both the Canada and the U.S. Gotta love that.

Transferring is definitely a daunting task. I've got >3,000 LP's, 1,500 45's and 4,000 78's. My strategy is to only transfer rare records that aren't available on CD or Rhapsody. It takes a minimum of 45 minutes per record. If you need to do some basic restoration you're looking at an hour or more. What time I have available is normally spent on 78's. They require more extensive restoration efforts once transferred. I use software from DC Art, which is also used by libraries and other archive and restoration facilities, including the Library of Congress. They key to a good transfer, no matter the source, is to start with a clean record. I have a DIY vacuum record cleaning machine, it's the only way to get them really clean. |

You need to send a PM to Iceman and report it. I had the same problem last week and could not edit and save any of my stickies. It got fixed after a couple of days. |

I can imagine you must have been a little confused/frustrated by not being able to update your stickies. Nice to see that there is a work-around for it. John |

Sorry I didn't see your question before now. I've been using DiamondCut's DC Art products for years. Each succeeding version has added significant features and improved restoration results. I've tried other products and I have yet to find one I like better. There's always a tension between ease of use and the ability to change parameters to generate the best possible results. The newer versions of DCArt, especially DC6 and DC7, have added some "EZ" routines that provide great results on 95-98% of the records you have. If, however, you have a particularly difficult record, you can use the "expert" filters and configure the settings to restore. I have a misused copy of "Bo Diddly Is a Lover" that has a couple of cuts I especially like. It took a little extra effort, more than is available in simpler programs, to clean it up. DC7 has a new "narrow crackle" filter than came in especially handy. I use it primarily for 78's which typically require a lot more restoration effort. This is when multiple passes with the expert filters really help. These filters can be chained in a "macro". This not only saves time, but avoids multiple FFT conversions which may affect quality. A new extremely helpful tool is the new virtual phono pre-amp. I transcribe using a flat phono pre-amp. This allows me to apply the correct EQ to my 78's. I can also apply RIAA EQ in the digital domain, which avoids any problems of non-linearity which can haunt analog RIAA EQ circuits. You mention you've not been truly happy with products you've tried. What were you unhappy with? |

John,
I found another one for you. I am not sure if we should put it under Sakura Systems or 47 Laboratory. The turntable is called Koma. [*]Sakura Systems (47 Laboratory): http://www.sakurasystems.com/products/koma.html |

I thought I PM'd iceman about the database errors I was getting, and if I did he hasn't gotten around to it yet. Can you add the TT under Sakura Systems (47 Laboratory) as you suggested, and I'll PM iceman again later. Thanks, John |
